NICHES. The scariest word for most people when starting out. However, the idea of a niche should not scare you. Instead it should be exciting.

What is a Niche?

A niche is a distinct segment of a market, in other words an "audience".

When choosing a niche that fits you, you should be choosing something that is ideally an interest, a passion, a hobby, but it could be something that you would like to learn about. You don't need to BE an expert, you BECOME an expert.

I personally enjoy many different things. I enjoy basketball, I used to collect baseball cards, I like to go skiing, I am really interested in men's fashion, exercise, internet marketing, and I love everything about the online business world.

There are also many niches over the years that I have been very successful within without knowing anything about them before getting into them. Dieting, voice over IP, hosting...are just a few.

Almost anything you can think of is a niche and that is why we are going to get you to choose YOUR niche based on things that you are interested in. You can earn money online from absolutely every single niche because there are billions of people out there searching for information, for solutions, and spending billions of dollars or products/services every day.

The idea of a niche can be a little confusing at first, so I have created a video walk-through for this lesson "Choosing Your Direction - It Starts With a Niche" that is going to walk you through what a niche is, how you earn money through a niche, and I will get you choosing your initial direction online.

Check out the video below.

Your online business should not feel like a day job. Earning money online should be fun, and it is fun. This all starts with choosing a niche that you are interested in and will enjoy working with.

The MORE you enjoy doing something the LESS it feels like a job and the more productive you are going to be. Carson and I are immensely passionate about online business and teaching people how to make money online, so that is the niche we have chosen with Wealthy Affiliate.

Your niche could be anything, but at the core of your niche selection it should be something that you "like". Something you enjoy. Something you can talk about. Something you want to learn about.

Task 1: Choose Your Direction

We want you to select the niche that interests you most and gets you the most excited.

A few things that you should understand about niches are:

(1) You are going to be writing content within your niche
(2) You are going to be communicating within your niche
(3) You are going to be choosing products to promote within your niche
(4) You are going to get to help people within your niche.
(5) Your first niche PROBABLY won't be your last (so don't worry about it being perfect)
(6) Any SINGLE niche website can become a "full time" income/business

There is NO SUCH THING as choosing the wrong niche.

Also, note that you can always change your niche down the road. Just because you are choosing a niche now does not mean you will be in this particular niche forever. Either way, please do not spend a week choosing your niche. Within the next 15-30 minutes (maximum) you should have your "starting point" niche chosen.

If you have any questions about your niche, feel free to leave a question below and we will help you out.

If you are REALLY STUCK at this point and you cannot decide on a niche, perhaps you may be interested in the make money/affiliate marketing niche. If you don't have a niche at this point, this will be your niche and we have an Affiliate Bootcamp dedicated to those that are interested in promoting Wealthy Affiliate.

==> Go here if that is you.

If you have any qustions about your "niche" or direction of your business and you wan to get feedback from the community, leave them below and we will be happy to help.

First of all, thank you very much for the great opportunity!!!
However, I wish to inform your kind office though that the voice in the video was too low. Sorry, but I can barely hear a faint voice which I find too hard to follow despite switching full volume on my headphone. I could not get the message. Moreover, I was expecting some technical training on how to be a transcriptionist. But I feel I started on a different platform.
Kindly give me some correlation on this.

I'm not sure what to tell you about the volume issue that you are having as I have been able to play the videos without any volume issues on my computer, as well as on my phone. For your second question, Wealthy Affiliate is a training platform for building websites, not training on how to be a transcriptionist. The closest we get to transcribing here is typing content into our websites that we have researched through videos, articles, etc. I hope this helps.
Thanks for the info. Re volume issue if it is not too much, this can perhaps be validated among your members here in Talisay City, Cebu, Philippines. This may just be a location issue, but if the video content is inaudible, it would be a real challenge for me to respond logically. On transcription however it is probably irrelevant to pursue it here. Best regards.

I have wrote my About page and hit the publish page instead of post. Tried several times to correct/edit and I'm unable to. Having a lot of difficulties at this point. I need some help.

I wrote my privacy policy and it won't publish. Don't understand what's going on.

Your About me page can be a page or a post whichever you choose. However, if you would like to change it. Download the post changer plugin. It allows you to switch very easily and you can delete the plugin when you are finished. Did you use the Privacy Policy from templates, insert your info and save it?
One of the two niche ideas I have doesn't really have any blog component to it. It solves a problem for around half of those online yet I fear it will be drowned out by a lack of updating. Is there a way to keep it relevant regardless of constant content updates?

I bring this outside resource here not as a criticism of" Site Content" but there may be better out there. I use Grammarly to help me with spelling and general writing stuff. The part I am using now is free there is an upgraded version I think for $29.month which I am considering.

Once you sign up as you are typing .in real-time, it will let you know. With misspellings, suggestions for better word usage, spacing that could be improved, All in real-time.

It's not perfect I would say around 85%-90% correct. Sometimes it missed misspellings but for the most part its great.

The reason I know that it's better is bc when I use Site Content for this purpose is that I will download my articles into SiteContent and push the button to check for errors.

It would show me any errors. I would correct them to publish over to WP. Grammarly would find 3-4x errors that were missed spelling, grammar, word usage, what have you

So check it out. Oh BTW I don't have any " dogs in this hunt" just passing on good info

Take care all

Is it ok to have 2 niches at once. E.G. can I have a niche about a topic that I'm passionate about, and also have a page or section that promotes wealthy affiliate or any other affiliate program?
I'm just curious as to how would this be done and has anyone ever double dipped on niches and had any success..

Quite frankly it is up to you. Tes, why not. If you create great content and follow the training you will succeed. A lot of the guys would tell you one at a time.

Thank you.
I appreciate you.
Your not alone. During the last session I immediately thought of two ideas. I would say get the ground work on one done first. That way you can learn from your mistakes before taking on the second one. If everything goes well you will be into your second one shortly.

@hgruvman. Thank you. I appreciate you. That makes sense. I always do what I think is right when it comes to the online business and always end up with zero results.
This time I'm going to listen to my peers. They say if you want different results you have to do things differently..

So thank you.

And I will focus on just one niche, and if successful, then I'll give 2 a try ..
