Hello Everyone,

Why I Did It!

I created this video training to showcase a plugin called "All In One Migration". I have used this plugin for a couple of years now and have found it to be very useful.

When to Use It!

When I have a website that I need to move from a development domain to the final domain, to move a website from other hosting to WA, when I copy a domain that I like the format on or other times I need a copy of a website.

What It Moves

It moves everything like theme, plugins, photos, videos, internal links, external links, and everything else.

The Problem I Had

The only problem I have had is, I forgot the password from the transfer site from other hosting to other hosting. I ended up having to go back to hosting support have have the password changed on the new site. With WA you don't have this problem as you can reset the password in Site Manager.

Final Thoughts

Thanks to this plugin, I don't have to use FTP (File Transfer Protocol) to move the site to the new domain. Then I don't have to change all of the external and internal links. I know you find this plugin to be a great help to you. Note I disable it when I am not using it.

Thanks

Dave

David,

As you know I ran into a brick wall because I'm using a Tablet. But anyway the support team was able to transfer my dite for me, that was great.
But. Just like in your video I used test 1p3 for my new site. I would like to have my other url in place of the words test103 and then the siterubix.com
Anyway now to go back and do thst?

Once you have selected a title for the URL you cannot change it. I suggest creating a new website with the title you really want.

Hope this helps.

It helps however, I created this new website and had to get help from the support team to transfer my contents from my old website because all I have is a Tablet and I couldn't do it.

Thank you David for taking the time to show us how it’s done step-by-step. This is very useful, and congratulations you do this in a really simple and easy to understand way.

I have a few question though, for everyone, if you’re migrating an existing website that’s already ranking in google:

1. isn’t google going to see the new site as duplicate content?
2. don’t you need to setup 301 redirects from old site to new site in case you had backlinks?

Thanks a lot.

Hi Jerome,

These are very good questions. When you move an old domain to a new domain, the metrics go to zero, unless certain steps are done. Taka a look at the following steps below:

Step 1. Make sure new domain is live.

Step 2. Create a sitemap for the old domain which prompts a visit to the new domain.

Step 3. 301 redirect your old domain to you new domain

Step 4. Submit your old sitemap. Google spiders will crawl, see 301 redirect and INDEX

Step 5. Fill out a CHANGE OF ADDRESS FORM in GOOGL Webmasters Tools.

Step 6. Great job! Done.

I hope this helps to answer your questions.

Thanks Maxine, that's a great answer and great help to me.
I have also been watching Kyle's video on moving your site from siterubix to your own domain: and now I'm wondering if the MOVE function in the Site Manager of WA doesn't do the whole thing for you automatically ?

What do you think ?

Hi Jerome,

It probably does with a siterubix website.

But, the intent for other domains is not to lose Google ranking. Let's research this one together.

Jerome,

It depends on what you are doing. If you are moving it to a new domain and no longer need the old one, then you would use a 301 redirect. If the old domain is a temple and you are going to add or change the content, then you would not use the 301 redirects.

Thanks for your comment I forgot to mention that info.

I was all excited until I got an error. Does this mean I have to spend $99 to get more space?

"Unable to export
Out of disk space. Unable to write content to file."

I have not had that error. How big is your site?

Great topic for a training, something many of us would be anxious about doing

Before you move something important, try making a dummy site with siterubix and move it to another siterubix site. Make sure you have an internal and external links in it. This way you won't lose anything important if something goes wrong.

I have to say one more thing, David. Your tutorial was so professionally done that you should now make a video tutorial on how to make tutorials.

OMG this is a great plugin! I just finished moving a website yesterday, right here in WA, one post and page at a time manually. Took forever! Than you! I will save this training.

You are welcome. You can also use it to backup your site. I backup every time I make changes or up date themes or plugins.
