You can link to groups of posts within your blog by linking to tags and categories. This can give a visitor access to more of your blog posts, and help them find topics they are interested in. I use this sometimes on my blog when I think a particular word or phrase looks interesting, but I don't have a 100% relevant post or page to link to.

I'll watch the video when my dongle actually let's me do so lol.

As for adding tags to a blog post, what's the minimum and maximum amount I should add to each post and also what's the recommended length of each tag? Is it best to keep them short down to 1 or 2 words or to make them more long tailed?

Thanks, Neil

When I started out I went tag and category crazy, thinking that I could get more terms and ranked for more stuff. It wasn't worth it. I don't think there's a set number that's good or bad, but I've read some other posts about it, and come to the conclusion that fewer is better. This is purely my opinion.

I don't think they have any real SEO purpose other than what I've shown in the video. They are best use as organizational tools to help you create a better, more efficient site. Personally, I use one category and 2-3 tags per post.

Another one to save for the future. By the way, I watched the Hobbit, and it looks like it's the first part of probably two parts, hopefully people like it enough for the sequel. I watched the Hobbit years ago, the animated one that came out in the 70s, and the sequel was Lord of the Rings, but it never happened, of course now they have all these special effects, etc. It started a little slow, but got much better, so you should definitely see it. If they come out with the sequel, I'll probably get them both at that time.

You definitely should get a Kindle though. I have a Samsung notebook, which I love, so just have the paperwhite ereader from Kindle, but it's so much better than reading a book, it does so much, like if you forget a character, you just hold on the name, and it will tell you, same thing if you don't know a word, the dictionary spelling and description comes up. It does so much more, but there's no time to put it all here, but if you read at all, it's totally worth getting.

Anyway, I really want to get to my site this week, although my schedule was blown Monday, and again today, with last minute dental stuff, but I'm going to try to get some stuff done while the weather is cool, then pick up where I left off, and hopefully have a site that at least says something. I'm going to TRY to keep things short, if I even reply to some posts for the next couple weeks, in order to at least get started, but I'll be talking to you again. Keep up your good posts & training, and nave a good rest of the week.

I use Kindle for PC and am constantly using the dictionary! it's very convenient. Definitely try to make some time for your site this week - it's probably getting lonely. :)
