How To Create A Pre-Populated Tweet
This is really easy to do. I will show you the steps to generating the example I made for this training
You will make a url that has 4 parts:
- The Twiiter url
- Your message
- Hash Tag (optional)
- Your page URL and/or Twitter handle (optional)
1. The Twitter URL
This is the root of your link - This is how the link knows to open a twitter in a new window.
http://twitter.com/home/?status=
2. Add your message
After the equals sign you are going to add the text that you would like to tweet. Between each word add a (+) sign. A (+) sign creates a space in the tweet
Example: I will Add "Increase Social Sharing On Your Blog"
http://twitter.com/home/?status=Increase+Social+Sharing+On+Your+Blog
3.Add an optional hash tag (#)
If you wanna add a (#) hashtag, you have to replace the (#) with a %23
Example: I will add #TwitterTrick:
http://twitter.com/home/?status=Increase+Social+Sharing+On+Your+Blog +%23Twittertrick:
4.Add Your page URL and/or Twitter handle
Add Url’s, short links, pretty links, or twitter handles, just like you were normally tweeting.
Here is what my code looks like for this exact training post:
This is the final result:
Tips:
- Test the URL in your browser before adding it as a hyperlink to your content to make sure the formatting looks correct.
- While Urls and twitter handles are optional...I highly advise adding
- I definitely advise shortening the links because of Twitters 140 character limit.
