In this tutorial I will be showing you how to open an incgontio window on 4 different browsers. Google Chrome, Safari, Mozilla Firefox, and Internet Explorer.

It almost makes me sad to make this training because you always see beginners posting about how they are on the first page of Google in their second week. Unfortunately that is usually not true and I have to be the one to break their hearts.

Search engines like Google, bing, and Yahoo all have one goal. To make your searching experience the best. One way they do this is my using past search history to help give you the best results in the searches your doing today. If you have clicked on a website before, search engines will automatically rank that website higher than it would for someone who has never clicked on that site.

If you have your own website chances are you visit that site often. Search Engines recognize this and will place your website higher in search results. Do you see the problem?

When you search for your own website your showing up on the first page of Google, but to another user you may be on the 10th page!

The only way to get around you past history is through a incognito window. This will give you your true search results.

Sorry to give you the bad news, but continue on to see how to open an incognito browser!

I think this information shattered a lot of illusions!!! Just keep looking up and being persistent. Your traffic is going to increase as you keep at it.

Exactly you'll see when your posts are ranking on the first page of Google because you'll see organic search traffic coming in.

Personally I don't check Google to try to find where I'm at. Just keep creating new content and you'll see your new content get ranked and some of the old content that might be on page 3, not bringing in traffic, move it's way on to the first page over time!

But of course for the newer members is very exciting to see your post on the first page of Google, but just wait until you see some organic traffic coming in and then go look!

Thanks for that advice I have been searching Google in ordinary mode and one of my sites is number 1 on the first page probably as this is the website I have worked on the most, but I cant find my second one although it has only been in existence about 3 days this is probably why.

I've just been going to different browsers. I mostly use chrome. So when I check a site, I use Explore or Mozilla or even a different system.
Thanks for the info. Good visual

Thanks for the training...I did the same things that so many anxious newbies do. I had signed into Google and saw my domain. Sad but true, I did not make it to first page as I had envisioned! Well it's 2015 and another goal to add to my list :(.

Thanks again...I will know better next time :-).

Have a happy and prosperous New Year Brokwebb!

Lol at this tutorial. Seriously? It's the IP that causes this. You could easily clear cookies or use a proxy or simply use incog as you said. LoL this is silly but I guess someones gotta do it. At least next explain what causes this effect and why people would need incog or proxy or whatever, you don't explain any of that, "cause and effect" seems to me you just needed something to write about lol.

Lol this is not bad news either...

sorry you did not enjoy the training. The reason this was created was not for people like you that know how to clear cookies.

It was created for people who get excited about being on the first page of Google when they really aren't. That is the only reason.

Thank you for that. You are correct no where in the post did I go into detail of why it happens. I just offered a simple solution. I will have to make an update.

All good brokwebb, you are definitely on the right track and yes this could be very useful for the ones that are not aware. I was unaware of this at some point. I still don't understand it fully but what I do know is, Google will track your cookies and your IP address so when you do a search it will remember that search for the next time around. Now a person browsing their site day in and day out will not make much of a difference where Google places the site on the list. Only if they go to it from Google search will it matter and sometimes this is not always the case.

Maarquesj I am a newbie and I found this comment really helpful unfortunately not all of us are at your level and need a little help sometimes, I know that this may have been a really simple action for you but I honestly didn't know how to search incog.

Private mode is a great tool and helper. This way you can see your real search results, use certificates, use cookies and other things which relate to your current private session only and have bo influence on services like search.

Thank you, Brok, for pointing out loud this rather obvious but often forgoten fact.

Thanks for this information. I did the test with Chrome, safari and firefox and i got different results:
Keyword: How To Find A Reliable WP-Theme
Safari: Page 1 Pos.5 - private surfing
Chrome: Page 1 pos 5 - icognito window
Firefox: Didn't even find the page
Jaaxy: Page 1 pos. 4

So what should I believe?

The think with the search engines now, is every person is going to see different results, based on their geography, friends, what they like and link to, it's becoming harder and harder to just rely on SEO and placement. You need to be publishing on social media and linking with people and getting involved and have them like your stuff, it's the way the web is going.

Like Wayne said,
Search results are going to show up different for everyone, but the incognito window will give you a general idea of where you stand and take Wayne's advice because he is right about Google changing to a Social way of thinking!

Thanks for bursting my bubble ! You... LOL Thank you for this information. I wondered how to do this. So when I had 4 pages on page one, it was just me. Oh well, it felt good for a short while. Incognito I'm on page two, after only three months. Not so bad for a newbie. Your information came at a good time. I need to go buy a new hat because I think my head just got smaller. lol Thanks again. Tom

Great information. While I hate to be the one to burst a person's bubble I think that more than a handful of people are very excited to see their sites ranking super well only to realize that it is only that way because google is keeping track of your activity. Incognito windows are very important for people to use in order to keep accurate track of their sites and rankings =). thanks for sharing
