When you measure an image, the default is either Portrait or Landscape, depending on placement. Will this image be a banner across the web page, or an image within the blog post?

For easy reference, here is a cheat sheet you can use:

This chart is only a guide, not absolute.

TheBackground image fill the entire background.

TheHero image can also be used as a Landing page, or CTA.

The website banner is similar to the Hero image, or can also be used in your header. This is an excellent way to add holiday features to your website.

The banner can also be used within the blog post between paragraphs. This is a great way to advertise Wealthy Affiliate or other affiliated products.

The Feature Image is an attraction to your blog. Be sure to use an image that reflects the content.

The Blog Image is the added image within the blog content. You can also use the feature image size, both with work. You can adjust the size within your blog post to fit proportionately.

The Logo Image is for your logo. This size can also be used for banner ads for your side bar. Some themes use a smaller logo, as seen when you need to crop to fit.

The Favicon Image is the little image you see in the page tab seen at the top of the web page.

These image sizes are a guide to help you when selecting images.

Thanks, Rudy. I have reached similar conclusions on image size and placement, but it took me a long time to get there.

This is a great resource.
