The widgets menu

Clicking widgets in appearances in your wordpress dashboard, the following menu unfolds:

Do not bother if yours does not look like mine. It depends from your theme and can be very sophosticated with many options and sections or very simple. It does not matter as long as it meets your needs.

For now, let us concentrate on the left and right panel.

In the left panel you will find all the available widgets.

Those are the basic widgets provided by wordpress and the possible exta widgets provided by your theme.

A few examples: archives, categories, text, custom html, etc...

In the right panel you will find the available sections.

The sidebar is default in Wordpress. Clicking on the little triangle, you can open the section. In this example several widgets have been added to the sidebar. In the next page we will show you how.

You will also notice other sections like top bar and front page. This is theme or plugin related.
