OK here we go! This is going to be the toughest part to get used to with Twitter, but don’t let it get the better of you because it really is not as difficult once you do it enough. Remember how you felt when you started Wealthy Affiliate? You thought that all of the website building and content creation was going to be such a hassle and now you do it all the time. It will be the same with Twitter.
WHERE DO I POST MY TWEET
The image above is of my Twitter Home Page. This is the page you will create your tweets on and it is also the page you get to see the tweet feed of those who you follow. At the top of the screen where it says “What’s happening?” is where you will type in your tweet. Note: As soon as you click on that field to start typing, that field will expand and you will see an “Add Photo” and “Tweet” buttons.
Yes you can add photos to your tweets and I highly recommend that you do that from time to time, more about this in just a bit. On the left side of the tweet feed is the Trends List, see below image. The Trends List will display the 10 most trending hashtags and/or words within your area and among those who you follow. You don’t have to use them but it’s nice to know them to help you gain more clicks.
WHAT A TWEET LOOKS LIKE
People are naturally fearful of learning something new but once they start doing it over and over again, it actually becomes easier. All you need to do is come up with a 1 or 2 sentence pitch. For example, let us say your niche website was on losing weight, you could tweet the following. Learn how to #loseweight without actually #exercising! Eat this food and shed pounds. Your Website Address.
That tweet comes out to only 107 characters and you still have 33 characters of the 140 maximum left to use. As you can see and read, that tweet is direct and to the point. It also speaks to your target audience. So what are you to do with the extra 33 characters? You could add another hashtag like I have in the below image, though most times you shouldn’t use more than 2 hashtags per tweet.
UPDATE, Even though the character count has now doubled to 280, as of November 7, 2017, the above training still applies. Though I would still recommend that you keep your tweets as short as possible, the extra character spaces will now help you to better describe what you wish to share. Remember to still be as brief as possible and do not use more than 2 or 3 hashtags per tweet.
NEXT UP = How to make your tweets more visually engaging.
When I did the Google search for #workfromhome and links to your content came up in positions 6 and 7, I noticed that your picture was adjacent to those search results. I thought Google Authorship was gone though. How did you manage to include an Authorship picture?
Thanks!
Dennis
This training was a big help for me and, to be immortalized on page 5 of one of your trainings is also an honor!
Can't wait for your training of Facebook as, I have absolutely no idea what to do there which is odd because, according to my Google Analytics, I receive more traffic from there than any of my other social media but, It is the one I use the least
