PAGE 4 – New Twitter features

Well here I am for another training on how to use Twitter for Social Media Marketing of your website content. If you want to get more traffic to your website and thus more customers, you could wait the months for your content to reach page one of Google, if it ever gets there, or you could use social media and present it to your target audience.

If you have not viewed Part One of this training, I highly recommend that you do because you will learn some things about Twitter that I am sure you never knew before. Plus you will get a better understanding of how to Tweet, what are hashtags, and how to use them. To view Part 1 of the training, click the below link.

How to Use Twitter for Social Media Marketing Part 1...

TWEET WITH IMAGES

They say a picture is worth a thousand words and using images in our website content is important for better reading by our website visitors. They provide a better User Experience (UX) and the same holds true for sending Tweets on Twitter. Look at the below image of the Twitter Home Page newsfeed. Do you see how boring I looks?

Judging by the above image, if your Tweet were one of them, do you think it would stand out and capture someone’s attention or do you think it would get kind of lost among the rest of them? It is just like our website content, there needs to be something visual to break up the normalcy of the page. So now take a look at the below image and see if something stands out.

The Tweet with the image of the smartphone really stands out among the rest doesn’t it? And that is why it is important to use an image or video in your Tweets, so it captures the attention of those who scan the Twitter Home Page newsfeed.

YOUR PROFILE FEED IS THE SAME

The same holds true for your Twitter Profile Page. All of your Tweets and Retweets will appear here and you also want things to stand out. The reason for this is that if someone sees an interesting Tweet you posted, they are more inclined to check out your Profile Page to see what else you have. Your Tweets will stand out if they have relevant images as seen below.

Thanks Robert for yet another interesting training, but i want to ask... when we post tweets, can we link direct to WA or must it be to our website?
Secondly do ww stil need ro shorten links presently, and if so, does using the pretty links work?
Reply
boomergp08 Premium
Yes you can link directly to WA, but if it is an affiliate link you need to do so very sparingly. Like once a day for the same link.

No, you do not need to shorten your links anymore. Twitter automatically shortens all links that are posted.

Sir. I will be the one asking you a lot of questions simply because you are so skilled at this. Twitter is pretty much the only social media app I use. But I didn't know how to use it effectively until I ranned across your training....Thanks again..

Can you use any images you like in tweets, or do they have to be royalty-free images you get from sites like pixabay?
Reply
TheBuilder Premium
It should be royalty-free.
Better play safe to avoid unnecessary troubles.
Reply
boomergp08 Premium
It is best that they be royalty free if you are the one creating the tweet.

However if you are re-tweeting another tweet or tweeting a post from some other social media network, the image does not have to be royalty free.

Thanks for the training, I found it helpful. Is there a way to target or build an audience that relates to the business or location that I am involved with so that I can communicate with those interested in the local business I am working with. Thanks again for the helpful training that you provide here on WA.
Reply
boomergp08 Premium
Use the search bar for people in your target audience. Then start liking and retweeting their tweets. Then follow them and most times they will follow you back.

Just a quick one Robert, I notice that when I follow someone invariably I will get a thank you message. Are these done manually or is there an automated thank you message that i can use?
Reply

There could be an automated script that does that but I believe most people do it manually.

Great training Robert and thanks, very helpful as I am just starting to get into twitter. Just one point, when should the use of the @ sign be used and how?

You would use the @ symbol when you want to tweet directly to another user. Example @boomergp

Hi Robert,

Thank you for creating this training. I've just gone through both parts.

However, I have a few questions:
1) Do you get much actual website traffic from Twitter?
2) How many times per day do you post?
3) Do you have a particular Twitter routine?

All the best,
Marcus.
Reply
boomergp08 Premium
1) I have never looked into the actual traffic numbers but I do know that I get them and it depends on how compelling the tweet is and the time of day the tweet was made, which varies from day to day.

2) No less than 10 times per day.

3) Tweet often and on days and at times when Twitter is most active with those within a given niche. This takes time to research and figure out. Always try to use an image, use relevant hashtags, and retweet and like the tweets of my followers.
Reply
Marcus1978 Premium
Thanks. Do you schedule your tweets?
Reply
boomergp08 Premium
No because I still find it difficult to nail down a optimum time of day when retweets and clicks are at their highest.

Hi Robert,

I'm just wondering why none of the tweets I've posted have the "View Tweet Activity" icon at the bottom? I just started, but one tweet has 3 Likes and the icon isn't there.

Thanks for the help and thank you for the training - it's very much appreciated!

Reply

Hi Robert,

None of my tweets have the little bar graph to the right of the heart. They all have just the main 4 icons. Not sure why?
Reply
boomergp08 Premium
How long and how many tweets do you have? Maybe it has to do with the amount of tweets you've made.
Reply
annarella Premium
I just set it up recently and I have 7 tweets. Maybe that could be - hopefully it will eventually show up because it's a very useful feature!

Thanks for your responses! :)

Social media is essential for the success of your online business. If it weren't all of Certification Course 4 and Bootcamp Phase 3 would not be devoted entirely to you using social media.

I use social media on a daily basis for sharing my content to a targeted audience and about 50% of my customers come from my social media marketing efforts. It is a great form of free advertising.

I say it all the time, but I am so thankful I found this community. Without the support here and tutorials like this, I don't think I would have the courage to do it. I certainly would not have learned even half of what I have learned so far if I was trying to do it on my own.

I'll admit that I have been afraid to get into social media because it just seems so overwhelming... But thanks to you and everyone here, I feel like I have a safety net and that I am not alone.

Thanks so much.

You are welcome Breanne.

As I said to Sami below, Twitter (or any social media for that matter) is actually simpler to use than Wealthy Affiliate. Basically WA is a social media network but more of a private one without much of the distracting personal/political/religious postings.

So if you can deal with the WA network, you should have no problem dealing with social media networks, especially when using them strictly for your website promotions. Because if you want your website to succeed online, you are going to have to use social media at some point. Certification Course 4 and Bootcamp Phase 3 are entirely about engaging in Social Media.
Reply
RushingBee Premium
The difference for me is largely that WA is such a safe space - everyone is here for the same reason, to learn, and no one looks down on others for not knowing as much or being slower to grasp something. Plus, the majority of us are paying to be here, so that is a built-in fortress wall to keep out the riff raff.

There are no such restrictions on social media - any idiot with an Internet connection can have an account.
But I suppose that is why I have to learn to network the right way and keep all of that other stuff out.

Thanks for the reply. Have a good day!
Reply
boomergp08 Premium
Yes that is the problems with social media but you do not experience them when you use social media for sharing your website content because you are sharing to your target audience.

It is actually way simpler to understand than it is to understand and use WA. Like many people, you are just fearful of trying something new. It truly is so simple. Type up a sentence, add a relevant photo, paste your website link, and click Tweet. Done!

Reply

When you are on the Twitter Home Page newsfeed when you click in the area where you type your tweet, you will see the add photo button for you to upload a picture but you must have at least 23 characters to spare in order to upload an image.

Read and see how to do this on my Twitter Part 1 training at the link below.
