The Screenshot & Screen Clipping Feature in Word
Before I get started, there is something you need to know.
- If you copy or screen clip an image to Word and right click on it, you will get the option “Save as picture”. Only single images can be saved like this and layers like text boxes, shapes, etc inserted on your image cannot be saved as one complete image. Excel does not give you this option at all. Don’t worry, I have a solution for this problem.
- Another important factor is that “Screen Clipping” will only clip what is visible on your screen.
For the purpose of this exercise I will Screen Clip from my WA, save it and upload it.
How do I “Screen Clip”?
Open the program that contains the information / images you want to “Screen Clip”. I have my WA post open. Make sure whatever you want to clip is visible on your screen. This is what is visible on my screen.2. Open your default“Word for Images”document, Select Insert, Select Screenshot, Select Screen Clipping.
This will take you back to the previous document you have opened. It will be greyed out. Just select whatever you want to screen clip by holding in the left mouse click and drag.
The image will be inserted wherever your cusor is on Word.
I have screen clipped 4 images and put a black border around each. See below.
At this moment all these are still separate images in my Word Document.
