When creating the “Pinterest experience” for my visitors I offer a variety of different pin boards with different topics. Though most of my pin boards cater to my WA promotional website and other related topics, I also have boards that are relevant to my other websites as well as trivial interests.

As you can see in the image above I have pin boards that cater to natural health and wellness, which is relevant to my first website, and others for my video game website. However you will also see some boards that are not just about internet related topics such as Google and social media, but on topics that I personally enjoy.

WHY IS VARIETY A GOOD THING?

You may be asking yourself, how can variety increase my website traffic? Simple answer… Someone who likes one or more of your pin boards could very well like what you have to offer on your website.

And if you have an interesting and/or visually appealing image attached with your website link, that person may re-pin your photo and link to their pin board for their followers and non-followers to see. The nice thing about Pinterest is you do not need to follow someone to see or re-pin what they share.

ANOTHER EXAMPLE WHY VARIETY IS GOOD

In the above image I have a pin board of photos and links to posts of the opening credits of my favorite TV shows I used to watch as a kid growing up. Let us say I attract a non-follower with the I Dream of Jeannie pin from that board. Then that person, like most people on Pinterest do, decides to look at my other pin boards.

This person then likes what I have to offer on my Humor and my Avoid the Cold & Flu Naturally boards. Within that latter board they really like the picture of the 3 kinds of berries along with its brief description, which always ends with my website link, and they re-pin that photo to their board. They may also go on to start following me on Pinterest.

Now if they click on my link I gain another website visitor and a potential customer. But if they don’t click on my link, one of their followers (or non-followers) just might, if they too like the image this person re-pinned to their board. It is this re-pinning (or retweeting in Twitter, share in Facebook & Google+) that makes social media a great way to get your website more traffic and free advertising, as well as natural backlinks.

NEXT UP = Position is everything when it comes to your pin boards

I started with Pinterest a few months back and now have 1100 followers..woo hoo! When I post a good article and add text to it, I always share it on my Pinterest wall. This has led to some traffic which will only increase over time.

This is great advice on cleaning up my boards. I thought I should have been doing that but haven't had the time.

It is now my next priority!

Thank you!

You are welcome and as you have seen, the more followers you have the more traffic you will get from not just them but those non-followers too.

Great training. I have been playing around with Pinterest and tried out a few boards. However I have not had good results from it in terms of driving traffic to my blogs.

Thank you. Just like everything having to do with website development, getting traffic from social media takes effort and time.
