Sometimes Wordpress won't let you upload a file or picture to your media library. FTP can help you get around this problem. This video will show you how.

I love this pictorial guide. You had the directional arrow circled in a yellow color so I didn't have any trouble following it. You had clearly visible description pop outs and you covered every step. Got my file uploaded. Thank you.

If you're getting the connection error message on the right-hand side of your Add Media page, go to your text editor, click on Save Draft, or if published click on Update, then try uploading the image again. This often works, and saves a plugin!

Thanks for the tip. I'll try that next time I have the problem. If it works consistently, then I'll consider updating the video. That may take a while before I get around to that though.

Thanks for the video. I managed to connect to my site but I don't really understand the reason to have the plugin. Could you please elaborate?

When you use FTP to upload your files, Wordpress doesn't recognize them by default. So, the purpose of the "Add From Server" plugin is to make Wordpress register the files you uploaded. So, FTP isn't enough. You have to upload them with FTP and then import them into the Wordpress database using that plugin. Hope that helps. Thanks for asking your question.

Hi Frd. FTP isn't a plug in-- true. But there is a plugin called "Add From Server" that is needed for this method at least.
