This video will show you how to setup your WA email account(s) in Apple Mail. It even covers some idiosyncrasies you'll run into when setting up the account(s) and how to eventually conquer them.

***I found the fix for the SMTP server not sticking issue! When you're adding the SMTP server. Uncheck the "Automatically manage connection settings" box and set the port to 587, check the "Use TLS/SSL" option and then select "Password" from the Authentication pull-down menu". It appears that the automatically manage connection settings option fails and so the SMTP server information is not saved.***

I have been struggling for a week. I have numerous interactions with site support without success.
I finally discovered your tutorial. I have done this multiple times though given the quirkiness of Mail I may have missed something. I get the following:

On the outgoing settings, the only thing I see that's off is that the Use TLS/SSL should be checked under the Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP).

Other than that, make sure that you're using the correct password for the incoming and outgoing server (they are different) and that you type them in manually. Don't use copy and paste. I've found that it sometimes adds hidden characters and causes the password to be incorrect.

Hello Scott,

"Server settings" is nowhere to be found. That tab reads "Advanced" from my end and even the options are different. I am kinda lost, honestly. Any help?

Thank you very much in advance for your reply.

What version of MacOS are you on and what version of Apple Mail?

It is a very old Mac (Mid 2007) and I cannot update it past OS X El Capitán version 10.11.06 .
I have a newer one (2017), but I shipped it to an Apple repair center days ago.
How can I know what version of Apple Mail I am on?

Thanks again in advance for your help.

If you’d like, I can send you a URL and code to download and run an app that would let me remote control your computer and I can help set up your mail. Let me know.

Not sure how, but I successfully managed to set up my WA email accounts.
I have one concern though: the smtp port associated with the accounts is not the standard one (25) , it displays another number.
Can I safely use my accounts or does the smtp port have to be 25?
Again, thank you very much for your help, I truly appreciate your concern.

It’s actually better to use a port other than 25. Many ISPs block port 25.

Thanks for this, Scott. I already have my one blog email account set up for Apple Mail, but I watched the video anyway to learn about the bugs. I’m sure that when I set up future accounts your instructions and information will come in useful.
Bed wishes,
Steve.
