Step 2: Connect the email address for your domain email / website email to your personal Gmail using the SMTP settings at WA, and confirm.
- In gmail click on the gear icon:
- Then click on settings:
- Then click on the Accounts and Import tab:
- Scroll down to 'Add Another Email Address' and click on that, it is in the 'Send Mail As' section:
- A yellow box will appear like this, with some words already filled in: Your email name from gmail is already automatically filled in there so we are going to (a.) edit that name to the name you choose to be associated with your website address, for example 'yourwebsitename contact'; and (b.) we are going to also type in your domain specific email address, in this case contact@mywebsite.com; and then (c.) click 'next step'. [Notice a box is already ticked for 'treat as an alias' and we don't touch that]
After you click 'Next Step' another yellow box appears asking for the SMTP settings:
Again notice this box appears partially filled in but we are going to edit these details with the precise SMTP details from WA located in SiteEmail right beside that email forward which you created earlier. Let's get these SMTP detail by going to SiteRubix>SiteManager>SiteEmail to the email forward address that you have chosen and click on 'SMTP Settings'.
The SMTP settings open up with their details like this:
Fill these details into the yellow box and override whatever was automatically filled into that box already, as in the example below:
(1.) SMTP Server is looking for the 'hostname' details at WA
(2.) username
(3.) password
(4.) port 25 in the drop down menu
Again note a 'secured connection using TLS' box is ticked, you can just leave that, we don't have to worry about it.
Now press the'Add Account' button.
CONFIRM
When you clicked the 'Add Account' button another window opens asking you to confirm [if this window doesn't pop up you'll have to retrace your steps to make sure the correct details were entered, I'll do a troubleshooting list on the last page, page 4]:
- You can choose either to confirm in your gmail account by clicking a link in the email they send you or by scooping up a code there and coming back and filling it in.
When you click the confirm link in gmail you'll be taken here, and you must click confirm here in order to verify this address:
Then you get a success message like this:
Now we will complete the process by changing the 'from address' at your gmail account, which I'll show you next.
