Here is my sample template of a website I am selling: https://flippa.com/10074674-homerugsforsale-com

Flippa.com Guide - How To Sell A Website

  • It only cost $25 to list a website on Flippa.com (for a standard listing). Most of the time you can easily get $100+ on any website you sell.
  • There is a 10% final value fee after you do sell your website.
  • Don't Use Paypal to sell your website. It's to easy to get ripped off that way. I would recommend Flippa Escrow or Escrow.
  • If you're selling a website from someone that has contacted you online. Go through Flippa and make a private listing (or just use Escrow).
  • Remember that even a website that doesn't make any money isn't necessarily worth any money.
  • If a website is generating income remember to multiply that website monthly revenue by 30. Meaning if you site is making $100 a month 100 X 30 = $3,000.
  • You should list your website for 30 days when you sell it.
  • Make sure you end your website during the week (preferably at 8 P.M.). From my experience websites sell for more during the week.
  • If you're website doesn't sell the first time on Flippa you can always relist it for free once.

Hi Garen,
Thanks for this training. I started a website a few years ago with Site Build it, now Solo Build it. I haven't done anything to it since, so I'll now think about selling it. Of course, I'll rev it up a bit and put it up for sale.

You certainly should sell it rather than letting it expire and getting zero for it. If it has any premium plugins or themes always make that a selling point. If you want you can provide them with updates for the plugins and themes for 3-6 months.

Also, the "Solo Build It" is a good selling point. Makes it easy for them to update and develop it more.

Hi Garen,

I did not know how simple it was to sell a website you no longer want. Thank you for this informative video.

Very Helpful

Kind Regards,

Yeah, it's really pretty easy to sell a website. However, just make sure you spend about 1-2 hours of your time on the seller notes. That little added effort will typically make you $100-$200 with a minimal amount of work. It's actually pretty fun selling websites. I was shocked when I realized I got $400 for a website that generated zero income.

So that's how it happens!
I was wondering how to do that. If you go and search online, you are just getting more and more confused. Now I know the steps that I need to go through.
I have a question:
I have a website, my first site that I was kind of training on it when I started with WA. I'm not working on it anymore.
It has around 20 well-optimized posts.
Can I sell it now until I have 2 months before the domain expire?
Thanks!

You can sell your site any time. You don't have to wait until your domain expires.

Yes, you can certainly sell your website. However, make sure that you make it perfectly clear to people that they will need to renew the domain name before a specified date. Might want to make that part is bold and italics, too. I actually have a website for sale now and it needs to be renewed in 10 days. However, as a courtesy, I go ahead and renew it for them before handing the site over.

If it's well-written content and you have 20 well-optimized posts I wouldn't be surprised if you could get at least 100-200 dollars from the website.

Do let me know if you have any more questions about selling your website.

A lot of people actually get kind of annoyed if you sell them a website that expires like 1 week after they purchase it. I always cover the renewal fee for them. It's just good business.

True..it's one of those things though where some really want the name transferred to them and so on so I would give them the option of I can register it for another year or we can do the transfer into your name, and extend it then, etc.

Hi Garen,

I wondered so may times how to sell a website. Thank you for this short but ever so enlightening training. This is a question I could just not find an answer to it anywhere.

No matter where I go online, since there is so much information, it can be hard to tear apart the good and legit website selling platforms from plain old rip offs.

I read somewhere once that it could cost over $200 to list a site for sale. That is too much. Albeit that is only one time then list for free but still that is a chunk of cash that you may never see again if your site does not sell.

Thank You Kindly Garen for your training and it really does have me thinking.

I was wondering if you could make training of going through the steps of how to sell a site, perhaps a video tutorial, because this area is far too new for me. Thanks again.

I know what you are saying. There is a lot of information online and a lot of it's actually inaccurate. For instance, you only need to pay $25 to list your site. If it doesn't sell you can always list it again for free. However, it might be worth it to pay more money if your website is generating more income. Got to get it in front of as many people as you can.

I did this for a website I sold for 4,000 and it paid for itself.
