How To Create The Widget

In this last lesson, you will learn how to take the html code that you created in the last lesson, and place it into a text widget, and you will add the widget to the desired area such as the sidebar, footer, etc.

Once this is complete, you will be able to see your new banner ad on your website!

First you want to move from the "Visual" tab over to the "Text" tab where you will see the html code. You want to highlight and copy this code!

Then you want to look to your left on your Dashboard:

Go to Appearance > Widgets > Choose "Text"

Once you've selected the text widget, you will choose where you want to put it. I chose footer 2.

Click theAdd Widget button.

Last you will paste the html code that you copied from your "Test Post" into the text widget as shown below. Note: You do not need to create a title for this widget.

Click Save.

End Result: Visit your site and see how it looks! :o)

Hi Cindy. I used the program called Paint, because it's a pretty common, simple, and easy to use program that most people have and is already pre-installed on their computers.

However, once you understand the process, you can use whatever program works best for you. Some folks like to use Canva, which is another program that is available in both free version and upgraded version... You do that all online, then save it to your computer.

Hope this answers your question, and thanks for checking out the tutorial. :o)

Cindy you don't have to complicate it like she explains it. WA already provides banners like MKearns mentioned.

Hi Monse.

This tutorial is for making "custom" banners... not only for WA, but for anything!

ALWAYS use the banners that are readily available to you if they work for you!!!

If they don't, here's a quick explain of what I mean:

You have a garden site, you want a more garden feel of WA? Create a banner with that veggie feeling!

You have a ballet site. You don't want superboy, or muscle man, or a couch and bunch of bills with the WA log do you? No, instead, you want a soft, ballet feel! Create your own!

If you decided to label your OWN products! Are you going to pay someone else to design your banners when you can do that yourself? Probably not.

The possibilities are endless. :o)

To get banners Cindy, just click on your little airplance up top at the right, go down to banners... once you get there, choose the banner you want and copy the affiliate link into your post by going from the visual tab to the text tab.

Hope that helps. It sound more complicated than it really is. You just have to get in there to see what I mean. It truly is an easy deal. :o)

If you still need help, just PM me. I'll do my best to get you there!

Thanks lots for your great question!! - Paula
