Using Google Search Console to Check Indexed Pages and Posts

Another method of checking and verifying what Google is indexing is to use the Google Search Console.....

STEP 1: Login to Google Search Console

Okay, as you may know, Google Webmaster Tools is now known as Google Search Console.

You can login from here:

https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/home?hl=en

STEP 2: Select the Website, Crawl submenu, Sitemaps

Click on the appropriate website from the list (IF you have more than one) And, then click on the Crawl submenu on the left and selectSitemaps:

The number of Indexed URLS is shown as indicated above. This should be relatively close to what was displayed via the XML Sitemap that we submit to Google. But, may very well differ depending on time of recent Post or Page we have published.

But, now you can see the relationship between these two items. What we submit and what Google is indexing.

Okay, sooooo...... how do we get a list of ALL the URLS Google has indexed? And, not just the top 10 that is shown on the first page. What if we want a document we can scan to do a keyword search on for specific posts and pages simply to ensure they are indexed?

Buckle up, gonna show you a neat little trick to do just that!

Pj,
If it wouldn't be for google+ I would not rank on the 1st page 7th and 8th down the list!
So what does that mean?

When you're logged into Google, you'll see things a bit differently. Because Google is using that to show you your stuff. It means it is linked, BUT it's not giving you a true estimate of how your pages rank within normal search results for the normal web visitor. You can use a free rank checker such as:
http://smallseotools.com/keyword-position/
This will give you an idea of where your website or a specific page ranks within the search results for specific keywords. Now, your page or site may be way down the list, but as time goes on and depending on backlinks, it will get closer and closer to page 1.

What makes such a big difference on page 4, between submitted and indexed?

Ah, I believe it tracks submissions in total. The most links I have had at any one time.

Does this mean you have removed so many?

I missed to say, good and very useful training.
