On Google Search Console, make sure you have the menu on the left side open. You can open it by clicking in the top left corner.

Then click on "URL Inspection."

Next, go to your website and click on the specific post that you want to have indexed. Copy the URL for that post, and paste it in at the top of the "URL Inspection" page on Google Search Console.

A little box will come up for a few seconds, saying that Google is retrieving data, and then you will see this (if your post has not been indexed yet) --

A little further down the same page, you may see this --

Or you may see this --

Either way, whether it says "Yes" or "N/A" next to "Indexing allowed?", you can still proceed.

Thank you so much!
Your lessons clarified how to deal with this issue.
I appreciate your lessons.
GSC still shows no sitemap index but I guess that doesn't matter since my website and posts do show as indexed and a search result also shows up,
Thank you & Happy New Year!

Update: That post that was taking longer than 15 minutes to get indexed did eventually get indexed. I checked it again because I had a similar delay yesterday. The one I was trying to do yesterday showed up as indexed today, and so did the other one. So I have now seen 100% success!

Thanks. I wondered how to do this as the new system didn't have the fetch button. Very helpful
