Step 3: Paste Your Google AdSense Code Onto Your Website
There are different ways of doing this. I’m going to show you the easiest way I do it for my own site.
Assuming you are building your site using Wordpress, head over to ‘Appearance’ located on your Dashboard and then click on ‘Widgets’.
Under ‘Available Widgets’, find the ‘Text' widget. To activate this widget, you can either click it and choose where you’d like it placed, e.g sidebar, footer a, footer b, etc.… or you can simply click and drag the text widget to your preferred location (I always place my AdSense in my sidebar).
Once you’ve placed your text widget where you want it, paste (Mac: Command + V; Windows: Ctrl + V) your AdSense code into the body of the widget. Do not put a title. Hit “Save” and check your site.
Note: When you check your site, the ad will be blank and blend into your theme. It can take from a few hours to a few days to see a live ad. Be patient =]
I have looked under the Appearance tab on my Wordpress site, but I do not seem to have Widgets there! Please tell me this is not the only way...
Just wondering, do you know if a single ad unit is set to auto-size, can a person simply use that one single ad unit throughout a site (ie in a sidebar widget as well as in main content on various pages) and have the whole thing work out OK?
The reason I ask this is because in the interest of keeping things as simple as possible, I would be happy to run with a single ad unit if it does the trick.
Cheers,
chris
