How To Create A Video Pin For Pinterest Using Canva.

Video pins are becoming very popular on Pinterest and when you scroll through your Pinterest news feed, the first pins you are going to see on the first page, most will be video pins.

This means Pinterest is giving video pins high priority and that is why you need to take advantage of video pins.

You don’t need to worry about creating video pins because they are actually very easy to create as you are going to find out on my tutorial.

Today’s tutorial is about video pins. I am going to walk you through the process of creating a video pin for Pinterest using the free version of Canva.

Let’s Get Started On Creating A Video Pin For Pinterest Using Canva

(Step 1)The first step is to create an account with Canva if you don’t have one already. It’s super easy and it’s free, all you need to do is go to canva.com and create an account with your email address.

(step 2) The next step is, on the home page of Canva, click where it says custom dimensions, type 600 on the first box and 900 on the next box. Those are dimensions for your pin. And then click create the design.

(Step 3) go to where you see videos(on the left side of your screen) and on the top (the search bar) type your niche for example fashion, food, makeup, make money online, then choose the video you like, just make sure it's at least 4 seconds long and make sure it’s not over 20 seconds, for promoted pins Pinterest recommends 16 seconds, so try to stay within that range. Once the video loads onto your canvas, make sure it plays well, otherwise choose another video.

(step 4) add the text overlay, for example, the title of your blog post or if you want to draw more attention by using a catchy text overlay, you can do so. Just remember to use the title of your blog post with your keywords when you upload the video pin to Pinterest.

Remember to add your website on the pin, because this is a way of adding watermark to your pins, as well as branding your pins so your audience can spot your pins when they are scrolling their Pinterest feed.

(step 5) once your pin is ready and you are happy with the design, go to where it says download click, then the video pin will be downloaded to your computer and all you have to do is go to Pinterest and click on the plus sign which says create pin when they ask for image, you are going to select your video pin.

Add title, description, and tags as well as the URL of your blog post, then choose the board where you want the pin to be published ( I recommend you have a board that contains only the pins you have created and use that board as you featured board on your profile, and to always pin your own pins on that board first before sharing them to other boards and group boards)

Video Pin Will Not Publish Immediately

A video pin will not publish immediately because Pinterest has to verify video pins before they can be made public, it usually takes about 24 hours, but my last video pin only took about 5 hours to be made public.

A Few Tips For Video Pins

When searching for free videos on Canva, make sure to scroll down because sometimes, the free ones might be in the middle or at the bottom of the page, and the same goes for images.

If you can’t find a video you like on Canva, you can shoot your own video and upload it to Canva and use it to create A video pin. Just remember if you are using your phone to shoot the video, hold the phone in the vertical position so you can make a nice vertical video, that will make a nice tall video.

This is very important especially if you are making a video pin that doesn’t need a text overlay.

Pinterest does also accept square videos, for example, the ones shared on Instagram or Facebook, which are a 1:1 ratio. But they don’t seem to like the YouTube video.

So when creating a video pin, make it either vertical or square and make sure to use the recommended ratio.

Also remember most people are scrolling their Pinterest feed with the sound off on their devices so when creating a video pin, make sure it can capture attention without sound.

There are other ways of creating video pins on Pinterest but this is the one I am using, and it's working for me plus I think it’s beginner-friendly so that is why I decided to share it.
