A private messaging system is a must for any online community.

If you have a forum, a Q&A site, a muti-author blog, an online shop, guest bloggers, collaborators or any kind of well-defined user groups, you'll need a private messaging system for an efficient one-to-one communication.

This is why I've decided to create this short tutorial where I will show you how easy is to add a private messaging system in Wordpress.

If you are interested, follow my lead ...

So ...

I am going to use a handy plugin called Front End PM.

Here it is:

https://wordpress.org/plugins/front-end-pm/

It's a quite small plugin (180 KB), but let's see the usual speed tests ...

Here are my results before installing the plugin ...

... and the result after installing and activating the plugin:

No more comments needed ...

So, let's see how it works ...

Thanks, Zed. This is one I may use down the road, when I have so much traffic I can't keep up with it all.

Smartketeer, your training is simply amazing! This is the first one for which I saw a need on my site and which I actually understood! It sounds fabulous, and I can't wait to try it out. It will be so handy to have everything in one place.

I thought I followed directions, but I didn't get the box you are showing above. Do I have to become a pro member to use the plugin?
Do I simply copy the [front-den-pm] or the code to my page?
Thanks,

hc

Hi Howard,

If you are talking about the above speed test results, those are coming from a separate speed testin tool. Literally speaking they have nothing to do with the plugin itself. It's a simple testing method included in all my tutorials to demonstrate that I'm not using heavy plugins that could slow down your site ...

Yes, you need to create a new page or to edit an existent one and to copy the shortcode in the exact place where you want to display the messaging system.
