What Benefits Do You Gain for Being an Amazon Affiliate?
- You will be working with a very popular website that has very high patronage. Many people trust it, so it becomes easy for your audience to trust you and the product you are marketing
- You do not need to pay any fees to join them. It is free
- You do not need to have a certain amount of traffic on your site before you can be accepted into the platform
- You can make your choice out of the many products that are being marketed on the platform
- You earn a commission whenever a visitor buys something from their store through your site. It does not have to be a product that you’re marketing for them.
- Tools are available for you to use as you sell certain items on Amazon.
- Its system of reporting helps you know the items that are getting clicks and bestselling items.
- It can make payments directly into your bank account.
- Its customer service is really satisfactory and customers can easily reach out to them whenever there is a problem with their goods or services.
There is also the unattractive side of being an Amazon affiliate.
Downsides of Being an Amazon Affiliate
- It pays a low commission when you compare with some other affiliate programs. You get $15 for business account sign-ups, $5 for audible referrals, and $3 for prime referrals. Although the commission on items varies, it is usually between 1% and 10%.
- If your referral does not purchase an item in 24 hours, you will not get credited. But if they add the product to their cart, you will get a 90-day cookie during which it will be expected that they make a purchase otherwise, you will not get credited.
- A lot of affiliate marketers use emails to market products to potential customers. However, Amazon does not allow its associates to send their links to potential customers through emails. This somehow limits the options that affiliate marketers can use to reach out to potential customers.
- You have to earn up to $100 before you get paid. That means marketing many products before you become eligible to get paid, and they only pay through check, direct deposit, and Amazon gift cards.

The Amazon commissions have dropped like a rock for most products so for me it is no longer worth it. 1% commissions just won't cut it for me.
