You have applied to Google to open an Adsense Account and carefully followed instructions.

Before you can get approval from Google to access your new Adsense Account, you need to paste some HTML code into the head of your page.

This tutorial explains the action needed to insert the HTML code in a WordPress website.

Not only is this a very simple procedure, but within a few minutes you will have completed the task.

I am having trouble finding the <head> part of my code. I even did a "control F" and it says this in only in one place on my code. But it doesn't look like the right place. The code reads...

* This is the template that displays all of the <head> section and everything up until <div id="content">

But I can't find it anywhere else in the code. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thank you

Hi Patricia, it appears you are having issues with using my training therefore, I recommend using another method. There are so many different themes nowadays and, although they're all Wordpress, they don't all provide easy access to the Theme Header.

This is a link to a video created by Marion Black. I suggest watching this and following her method for inserting the html code. All the best,
Valerie

Hi Valerie
I followed your instructions and it is done perfectly. At the end, I get this message from adsense saying, I need to add the code on every page I want ads.
What does it mean, do I have to add this to my pages or is it possible to add to my other websites

Hi Nadia, You don't need to do anything else with the code you have already added.

You obtain the code for your ads from your Google Adsense account. There is a range of code for using in different places on your website. However, I suggest inserting the code into a sidebar widget.

It can take a while to become familiar with Google Adsense ads. Therefore, the reason why I suggest using sidebars at least until you become more familiar with using these ads.

You should be able to place Google Adsense ads on your other websites, particularly if they are getting a fair amount of traffic.

I hope this helps. If you need more assistance please let me know.

Thank you for this walk through. I installed a widget and kept getting code error so I did it this way. At first I couldn't figure it out as I didn't have edit permissions for my site but site-support helped me out and I was able to use this method to install my ad sense!

Hi Valerie and thanks for sharing this easy to do procedure.
I have had one problem in that I inadvertantly opened a second Adsense account with another email address. This of course (I found out) meant that neither of the accounts would work, so I have deleted the second account and I am now waiting for Google to complete the setup on the first one.
Will they do this automatically or is there any other action I need to take?
Thanks for your help

Hi Terry, I don't have the answer to your question. I'm not sure that your first account will activate again, without some 'help'!

I think the best thing to do is, in your Google Account, click on the Question Mark at the top of the page and look at the the items available until you find 'Troubleshooting and resolving common issues'. I think you will get some help or information from there. I tried to see how far I could go for information to help you, but a message came up regarding my account so I couldn't go any further.

Perhaps look at 'Policies'. I see there are many questions there with answers from Google, although general answers and not personal.

It may be a matter of time. Google doesn't appear to hurry when it comes to difficulties.

I do hope this issue is soon resolved.

Hello Valerie, I am following all your steps and this is what pops up at the bottom.
Unable to communicate back with site to check for fatal errors, so the PHP change was reverted. You will need to upload your PHP file change by some other means, such as by using SFTP.
What does this mean?

Hi Fredric, I do not know what that means. I recommend you reboot your computer and insert the code using a different method.

I'm sending you a link to Marion Black's video. This will show you how to insert the code using a different method.

Thanks Valerie,

I really appreciate your work it helped me a lot, I noticed that when I went to press enter next to the word head and it created a space underneath, the start of the code that I paste was not directly inline with the word head it does that matter?

Charlie, I don't think it would matter that the code was out of alignment. It probably corrected it's alignment when you clicked on Update, and closed the section.

If you have any problems with it, please let me know.

Hi Valerie!!
First of all, I would like to thank you so much for this much needed tutorial. Mine was not for AdSense but I needed to verify my website by placing my affiliate programme's HTML code and I was at a loss because I tried to put the code in the edit page section instead of the Editor section.

Cheers,
Rab :)

Hi Valerie! Your training is very clear and comprehensive. Thanks! It's very possibly me who is doing something wrong:

Per your instructions, I go to the WP dashboard, click on "Appearances" and then "Editor" . Nothing happens for a while until another window opens (google announcement) informing that "This Page Does Not Work", further adding:

ERR TOO MANY REDIRECTS.

I follow Google's instructions from this announcement (erase all Cookies).I've done that several times. I have also gone over the WP dashboard, again, and again, making sure to access all other menus (posts, pages, themes, etc). Everything opens correctly and quickly.

However, when I want to access "Editor" under the "Appearance" menu again, it cotinues to send me back to the Google information page mentioned above.

I am not sure I want to do AdSense on the Certification Course but I really want to finish this lesson to continue with my WA education. Any sugestions are sincerely welcome. Thanks again!

Hi Luis

This problem is nothing to do with Adsense. It means there is a loop being caused somewhere! I really don't understand the exact meaning. I had a similar problem with one Category in one of my sites. I ignored it because it wasn't important.

However, I believe this is important in your case because it is affecting the Editor.

My advice is to place a ticket with Site Support. I'm sure they will fix the problem, or certainly well advise you.

I would be interested to know how this goes for you.

All's good Valerie! Google is now checking my website. They say it takes aproximately 3 days.Regardless, your training is fantastic on and your advice for help through the folks at Support was spot on. As always, they answered right away and solved the problem by activating the Editor in WP. I pasted the code in a wrong place initially but figured out my mistake and set things right. All's well that ends well...thanks again!

That's great Luis. Thanks so much for the update. I'm so pleased to know that all is sorted. There's no doubt about Support; they do a brilliant job! And you've pasted the code in the right place. Well done. All onwards and upwards from now on!

Ok well, I had could not find <head> anywhere. Ended up going to the edit page on one of my website pages. Clicking on Text and brings up all your code on that page. Still not finding <head> anywhere. Just posted the AdSense Code at the end of the website code and clicked update. Viewed my website and it was at the foot of that page. (YAAAAAY) Did the very same thing to another website page, but placed the Adsense code at the beginning this time clicked update, viewed my website and low and behold the AdSense Ad was at the top of my website page. Hope this makes sense to someone who's still having trouble. :)

Hi Andrea
My tutorial is about adding verification code to a WordPress website.
The tutorial is not about inserting the Adsense advertisement code.
What you are saying is misleading to other members.
To have an Adsense ad appearing at the top of your website page you must be referring to Adsense advertisement code, and not Adsense verification code.
If you followed my tutorial you would know that an advertisement would not appear after inserting the html verification code. You have to wait for several days to receive advice from Google that your website is approved.

Thank you so much for a simple and clear instruction! I had been looking for a way to do it and I wanted a very simple instruction. I'm not familiar with the coding thing and in tinkering with the codes in my website, I did not want something to go seriously wrong. But this is the best way to do it. I had put up this question and fortunately, someone shared this instruction there. I just had to thank you! Cheers!!

Thank you for posting this. During the enrollment at AdSense we are asked to paste a special HTML code into our website but it doesn't show how or where to do it. Thank goodness for the training here at Wealthy Affiliate - I was able to do it with your easy instruction.

Hey folks,
Could you please take a look at my site to see if I installed this correctly and what I may have done incorrectly?
I see that the top space of my blog has changed color, which I'm assuming has something to do with how I posted the code.
Thank you,

<body style="background-color:transparent" marginwidth="0" marginheight="0"> </body>

That part of your website say transparent however it turns out yellow.

There are also two errors on your site that says

jquery-migrate.min.js:2 JQMIGRATE: Migrate is installed, version 1.4.1

*ads Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 403 ()

*ads Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 403 (

Were you suppose to only have one ad on the top of the screen? The same code may have been put twice and their conflicting each other

Now I am new at all of this and learning my bottom off to understand all of this but maybe check if you put the code twice and take one off , save and then refresh the page and see if that fixed it.

Hey Brother, I just Looked at Your Site and Not One Ad was found, Something is Not Right. Going To have to redo It make Sure To Click on the Text Box when paste in Link from AdSence

Sounds Like You Placed Ad in wrong Section. Take a Pic of Ad and Go back and Delete old link. You got to be careful not to erase anything more than requested.

Other wise Your going to end up with Broken Links and if You don't know what missing it will be hard to repair.

Make sure to click on the Text box before adding link. It will be 24 hours before Your Approved make sure to test it on the bottom of Google AdSense to activate The link.

Great work. Thank you!
I have a couple of questions. When I have installed adsense, do I need to install the code for every individual post or just the one time?
Also, how can I be sure that I have done this correctly? I updated the file and went back to my website, but I don't see any ads.

Thank you.

Michael, the Adsense code you installed is to verify your website with Google. In a few days, or maybe a week, you will receive advice from Google that your Adsense account is now active. You will then be able to log into Google.com/adsense and set up your Adsense Ads. Google provides adequate information on how you can display your ads.
If you display ads in your sidebar, you need only set those up once, depending on whether you have different sidebars on individual post/pages.
If you display Adsense ads on pages/posts you will need to insert each one separately.

HI Valerie,

I've been trying to follow up you tutorial. But after I click 'Editor' I don't get this 'theme header ' on the right hand side (or anywhere). It says ''going premium at WA will....'' and have shown the premium benefits. Can you please explain to me what should be done?

Thankyou .

Hi Sanoja

I am sorry that you have this problem. It is nothing to do with going premium at WA. That message appears with starter members, as a reminder that WA premium provides benefits.

The reason why you can't find 'theme header' will be that the theme you are using does not include 'theme header'. I wasn't aware of such themes until after writing this training.

You have the option of using a different Theme. One that provides the 'theme header' feature. Alternatively, you could use a plugin. I don't have information on a plugin method, but I could probably find it for you.

Have a think about it. If you would like to change your theme, I'd be happy to help you find a suitable one. Alternatively the plugin method, although I can't guarantee it because I don't use it.

If you would like my help, it would be best to send me a Private Message. That way I will see a Red colored box at the top of the screen, and you should get a quicker reply, taking time zones into account. I am in New Zealand.
