Oftentimes I see people struggling because they're focusing on keywords only.

That was me.

I focused on which keywords drive traffic and completely ignored whether or not they could convert readers into buyers.

I want you to STOP wasting your time like I did.

Have a look at these 3 website examples. This is the ultimate truth about website monetisation and how to actually earn money, and they aren't wasting their time writing irrelevant content like I did.

1. monitornerds.com

2. switchbacktravel.com

3. 10beasts.com

If anyone knows how to make money from their websites, it's the above website owners.

They really hone in on people that are very deep into the buyer cycle and are essentially "ready with their credit card out" to make a purchase decision then and there.

All you have to do is convince these people to make the purchase when they're already ready to buy something anyway!

Steps to follow IN ORDER!!!! (very important):

  1. Find keywords with buyer intent (top product, top products, best product(s), product review, product reviews, cheap products, where to buy product, buy product online, best product for home, best product for seniors, best product for _________ (insert anything else).... USE YOUR IMAGINATION!
  2. Install MozBar
  3. Pump the keyword you found into Google and use the MozBar to find DA and PA under 30, preferably under 20 (super, super important). You need at least TWO WEBSITES with DA & PA under 30 (preferably 20).
    1. This isn't to outrank your competition - rather, it's a tool you will use to proove to yourself that you can rank that keyword as well if they did it!
  4. Look for exact match keywords in the following 3 places:
    1. Title
    2. SEO description
    3. URL
    4. If your specific keyword (example from the video: top hunting knives) isn't an EXACT MATCH AND has DA/PA under 30 you're essentially golden to get started!
  5. Use a word counter to determine how many words the highest quality competitors' articles have and then make sure your article has more damn words (simple enough right ....)
  6. Final step: Write higher quality articles that are better than your competitors' articles!

Let me know if you have any questions.

Question: Where is the reference on how many words (word count) to use for a post? And what is the purpose for having a certain number?

For some reason a thousand or two sticks in my head, but you mentioned six thousand.

Hi Clare, My understanding from having read a lot of guidance here is that posts need to be length appropriate to the subject, so simple items need less words. The rule of thumb seems to be about 1000 words minimum. Then i have read others who recommend longer posts, 1500-2000 words. I did not read about anyone recommending 6000 words. Maybe that would be for a particularly specialised or complicated subject. Sorry i can't be more help, Best Alan

Hi Claire,

The general rule of thumb is about 300-500 words per affiliate link so if you're doing a big buyer's list of 15-20 products, you should aim for about 5000-8000 words to keep from being penalised by Google.

Also, it's been proven time and time again that long-form content ranks better, so for your important "informational posts" aim for at least 2000 words.

For How-To's and things like that, 1000-1500 is fine.

Please let me know if you have any other questions and I'd be happy to answer them!

That was helpful, Alan. That sounds right. It's what I recall from training.

I was just concerned because my WA Review is @1000 words, but my Jaaxy Review is only @500.

Until I'm more familiar with the Jaaxy Tool, I may not be able to write 1000 wds of "meaningful content" without sounding robotic or like a training manual.

So, I get what you're saying and that's ok. I was curious if it effected ranking in search engines. That's the only thing I would be concerned about.

Thanks for answering my question.

Wow! This is to the point! I love it :) I did have Mozbar for awhile but I didn't know how to use it and it seemed to slow down any downloading that I did. I got so annoyed, I deleted it. However, you have me convinced to give it another shot. Thank you!

Yes, use MozBar 100%. 1. Avoid how-to posts, 2. Focus on selling products 3. Find keywords you can rank for with the methods I share above

My problem was the same as yours. I was not using buyers keywords. A lot of my article are what is, and how to. Thank you for sharing

Yeah, biggest waste of time if your primary goal is to earn an income from your website in my experience and opinion.
