Hey everyone!

I wanted to share this quick training on FTP Transfers through the Wealthy Affiliate platform since it might be a little bit confusing for some (me included, lol).

What Is FTP?

FTP stands for file transfer protocol. Basically it is when you directly transfer files to your website similarly to how you transfer files around on your computer.

It is pretty simple once you learn how to but you have to always take your time because the smallest glitch can delete or move something which can potentially really screw up your site.

What You Need for FTP

All you need to be able to do an FTP is:

• FTP username (host provided)
• FTP password (host provided)
• CyberDuck or FileZilla
• Files to transfer

Note:

1. If you are using hosting besides Wealthy Affiliate you might need to set up an FTP account where you will choose the username and password.

How to FTP

1. Get your FTP log in information
2. Install & Open CyberDuck
3. Click 'Open Connection'
4. Enter your domain name where it says 'Server'
5. Enter your username in the 'Username' field
6. Enter your password in the 'Password' field
7. Click the connect/confirm button.
8. Confirm the connection pop-up
9. Open the file on your computer where your files are located that you want to transfer
10. Open the file location on CyberDuck where you want the files to go
11. From your computer, make sure all files are highlighted (or you can do one at a time) and drag them to your website's target file location.
12. Confirm the transfer and prompts
13. Verify files were transferred to the right place.

And that's it! :) So I hope this helps a lot of you. Please be extra careful when dealing with the files on your website. If you are in doubt, don't do it and get help from a professional! :)
