Facebook Sharing Troubleshooter
Okay, so now you are armed with the correct setup for AIO Social Meta feature and the steps to take to post your images both with the Featured Image option and the Social Meta option.
BTW, there is a switch in there to make it use the Featured Image all the time. But, I personally didn't have much luck with that.
So, let's say you did all this and still get the dreaded silhouette guy or no image at all....
First thing, go back into the post/page editor.
Scroll down to the bottom where you setup the Social Meta stuff mentioned previously.
You'll notice the following Debug This Post button:
I bet you're wondering what the heck this thing is for and what will happen if you push it? Are you gonna break something?
:-)
Nope. This is your guide to troubleshooting Facebook shares!
When you click it, another browser tab will open and the following will be displayed:
You'll notice the OG tags in the code. No, you really don't have to worry about this.
But, let's scroll down a bit. Then, you'll see what Facebook is seeing using those OG settings that were created by AIO SEO plugin:
IF you're not seeing your image here, Facebook isn't either!
Okay, the first thing to do is scroll back up and click the Fetch new scrape information button.
This will attempt to get the info from your website again.
Now, here's the thing I learned from helping a member this past weekend......
Once I logged into her WordPress website and adjusted the AIO settings. The old posts still had issues.
I had to go into all the old posts and update each one and check it with this debugger tool. Facebook then cached (remembered) the new URL and OG information.
But, moving forward, she won't have this problem any longer!
Here's a link to go directly to the debugger tool to check any URL:
https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug/
(so, you don't have to be IN the post/page and find that button)
Also, from there, you can learn more about all the features this thing is capable of. But, that's not the scope of this training.
I hope this helps you out if you've been having issues!!!!
Please "LIKE" this training and leave a Comment below. It's what keeps me doing these!
Cheers!pj
On page 3 under the social profile link settings image, the first sentence, leave that spelling error in if you wish.
Why?
We all need the wonderful release of a good laugh during the learning process.
You're priceless and appreciated............:-))))))))))))))))
