How To Examine Indexed Pages For Likely Issues

Since I'm not having any "Valid with warnings" page, let's click on the "Valid" button now.

This shows the number of indexed pages in Google.


From the index coverage report above, we're going to be looking at two different things:

1. Sudden decrease (Or rise) of pages indexed

When you experience a sudden decrease in the number of indexed pages on your site, it's a signal that something has gone wrong somewhere.

  • Googlebot may have been blocked from accessing a huge number of pages
  • A "noindex" tag may have been added without knowing.

On the other side, if you experience a sudden rise in the number of indexed pages, that could equally be a signal that something might be wrong somewhere.

It could be that a huge number of pages which ought to be blocked might have been unblocked.

2. An excessively high number of indexed pages

Currently, the number of posts at OnlineBusinessPublications is 35.

If the number of indexed pages is excessive when compared to 35, then there are issues to fix.

Thanks for reading the tutorial friend! It's important to follow the tutorial sheepishly because this is what will ensure that you receive rankings in Google.

Log in your GSC account and click on all messages. Look for the particular message that says: "Index Coverage issues detected for your website" and click on it. The Index Coverage report chart will then show up and that is what you're going to use following the steps in my tutorial.
