Step by step on how to connect your WA email to your Gmail account.
1. Click Websites tab --> Site Manager --> Site Email (top bar)
2. [Video starts here] create a "new email forward"
3. Insert your email name and what Gmail address you want to forward it to
4. Open Gmail --> Settings icon --> See all settings --> Accounts and Import
5. "Send mail as"--> "add another email address"
6. Insert Name and email address --> next step
7. Insert host name, port username, & password from your WA "SMTP settings"
8. Verify account (email should have been sent to your Gmail account)
9. Test your email works--> DONE!!
Hope that helps, I've done this numerous times now and each time I forget how to do it. So I created this training for my future self more than anything else ;)

Mike...I did exactly as you did in the video yet I keep getting an error message saying my user or password is incorrect yet I copied and pasted? (See screenshot below).
I saw another video by a Jerry Huang entitled "How to Add New Email Account to Gmail - Configuring POP3 and SMTP at Gmail" in which Jerry states you can not add a forwarded email to gmail under the Accounts and Imports tab. Jerry also mentioned that the POP3 must be enabled for ALL emails which I did but still got the error message below in the screenshot.
Maybe I have to delete my forwarded email like Jerry does in his training video or what else might I be missing to accomplish being able to send emails from my gmail account but have the emails show up to the recipient as from my WA owned domain name email? What else might I be missing?

Hi, I have spent time and tested both Mike and Jerry's training and found both options are working fine with me.
So the main point to note is if you have already set up your WA email as a forwarder then Follow Mike's training and it would work fine with it. If you haven't set up any forwarder email then follow Jerry's training.
Please refer to the attached screenshots where I have tested on both emails.
So please retry it based and let me know if you need any further assistance.

The issue I found out was the port number. Both training videos said to change the port for outgoing from 587 to 25 as shows in the email STMP settings. I did everything as the training videos outlined.
When I could not get it to work I contacted WA support and they suggested changing the port number back to 587. I did so and now I can send an outbound email from Google using my WA Domain email alias address.

Thanks for your reply. After contacting WA support they suggested I switch the port number back from 25 to 587. Once I did that I was able to send outbound emails from Gmail from my WA domain email. Might you have any idea why changing the port to 25 as outlined in the tutorials would not work yet keeping the port on 587 did?

Great tutorial Mike, I've been trying to crack this for ages!
I noticed that you switched between different Gmails when trying to send an email from your personal account, to the newly-linked email account while testing. Does it mean that we have to create a separate Gmail account for it?

You don’t have to but I created one with the website domain@gmail.com
The thing I haven’t mastered is how to respond on your phone from the domain email address. So using that gmail address at least makes it relevant!

I know right! Doing fine I guess, we're under lockdown here in Malaysia so I can't do much since I can't go out. Prepping up my website to start writing again soon! How are you by the way? Is it getting better in the UK

We were actually supposed to go back to Tioman island in April as we loved it there! But alas COVID hit!
Things were easing in the UK but getting worse again now. I predict a full lock down before Xmas to be honest.

Yup, publishing a piece is taking me forever, but i'll get it done! Not a new site but my current one, I haven't touched for a year ahaha. Tioman is beautiful, good choice! It'll be even more beautiful after covid since nobody's out now so the beach is clearer than it's ever been.

There's definitely a big impact alright! revenues are reducing lesser and lesser, and so is my traffic, oh no! Hope you website's doing fine, I have a lot of catching up to do. And an update on Malaysia, we just received a national announcement of a controlled lockdown happening 27 October today until 3 November. Not a good time this year is it :D
