What is a niche?

A niche is simple, it is an audience. An audience looks for stuff online, for example, what are some of the last searches you did in Google. These are ALL niches.

In this video I am going to help you UNDERSTAND what a niche is, how to come up with niches that you are interested in, how to choose a niche...and if you can't come up with your own niche, then I give you a "plan of attack" for getting your business up and running in a pre-selected niche.

Here is what you are going to be doing within this tutorial:

  • Understand what a niche is
  • Finding your very own niche
  • Choosing your initial direction
  • Finding and search for affiliate programs
  • Using Answers.com to uncover niches
  • Understanding Affiliate Bootcamp

A couple of resources I leveraged within this training that you can use for your niche research. These include:

  • Amazon.com
  • Answers.com
  • Google.com
  • Magazines.com

If you have any questions about niches or what direction to go, please let me know and I will be more than happy to help you out.

I am interested in a brand of shoes, “Jordan’s” are being released every week almost. With that being said I believe that could make for many articles and blogs etc... but the thing I don’t understand with the niche. Once the website is up and running there are thousands of different shows out there. With my niche am I looking at one brand of shoe. Or will I be able to guide my audience to all the types of Jordan’s.

Sure, that is definitely a direction you can head. I am a huge Jordan fan, and Jordan shoes fan. :)

As I was getting older every year that went by, I started to focus on 2 topics: Health and Well-being.

So that until today at my age of 77 years I have already registered for a few months the domain for my future Site:

My domain is: "yourhealthandwealth.com" that with the help of WA Community I want to turn into a great Help Site for the whole World.

Thank you very much for the video, Greetings!

With so many toxins in our foods, environment, and way of life, it's definitely a topic that we should all think more about. Good luck!

I was wondering if it is better to start off with a physical product niche (like sportswear) instead of educational or informational niche? I am really interested in online / social media marketing and have been thinking about going that direction. To narrow it down, I could be targeting start ups and small companies. What option do you recommend for a first timer?

I would probably go with whatever you are passionate about and where you like helping people.

You will have huge competition for that niche, but it doesn't mean you can't do well. Might just take a little longer to get on the first page of Google search. However, what if you narrowed it down to "Compression Sportswear." As a longtime competitive runner and triathlete, I can certainly vouch for the benefits of wearing compression socks and tops.

Just a thought as I look at your possibilities in sportswear. How about youth soccer wear? This is one of the fastest growing sports in the world as kids of all ages and genders love it. Most of all parents find it more affordable as opposed to hockey for instance. I just checked out Amazon and plenty of soccer gear etc. to sell on there. Plus, you could target soccer teams and sell 15 sets of gear at a time for example.

Hey there! Thank you for the advice and I couldn't agree more. I think you should always be passionate about the things you are going to spend a lot of time on!

Loved the initial directive on choosing of a niche. I do feel that the incredibly overused term of choosing your passion could be removed from the language for a while. I'm not finding very much passion around me these days, in fact I believe my niche is going to relate to this very condition of middle age and not feeling the burn.

Yeah, it could be removed, but it is the natural direction . Those that say your "passion" will not lead to success, I would argue. But I would also argue that if you are passionate about "business", you could evoke that across any niche as I have done over the years.

You can head in absolutely any direction you want and be very successful online, you just have to evoke passion within that niche.

I've heard it said that a .com extension is like having beachfront property as opposed to .net, .ca, etc. etc. As I plan on having an information website, I was thinking of using a .info extension. Does that mean I will have fewer search results on Google? Is it a bad idea to stray from a .com extension?

If you are creating an information website then it is perfectly acceptable to use a .info
I see many successful YouTubers who have websites that are .net, .org, etc.
What you can do is try it out. If you do not have success with a .info after a few months you can redirect the site to a new one. (of course you will have to create another site) But in essence that means that if someone clicks on your .info site they will automatically go to your new site.
Hope that helps!

Hello Tanzanite. An internet marketing teacher, MikeZ, once suggested that you should try to register your name with all of the .com, .net, et al, if you find your name is not already taken you could have them all.
