So here we have stats for twitter which is ideal for micro blogging however you have to keep tweets under 140 characters. With 313 million users it I estimated there are 6000 tweets per second with the largest penetration being in the USA.
You can get a lot of engagement with Twitter using # to target topic searches, It is popular with age groups between 18-29 which will rise as that age group gets older.
Its an ideal platform to spread news and articles of interest. I browse the trending map for Twitter that can be easily googled to see whats trending. You can also look on the Twitter home page as well.
To build an audience I re-tweet 3 interesting articles a day in my newsfeed and tweet 3 or for times throughout the day. I don't want to bore people so I keep it to that but my followers are growing and I am getting more engagement.
Twitter is great for public relations.
