I've gathered a collection of ad programs that I have worked with in the past. There are many more out there, but these are ones that I have had personal experiences with. Feel free to comment below with other ad networks that you use and trust.

Kontera
http://www.kontera.com/
Kontera is another PPC ad platform that provides in-content advertising. They will create ad links based out of certain keywords found in your post. The ads feel less like advertisements.

Infolinks
http://www.infolinks.com/
Very similar to Kontera. Infolinks also creates in-content links based on the keywords you use on your website. A little bubble will popup with more information on the advertisers whenever a reader hovers over one of your Infolinks.

Commission Junction
http://www.cj.com
Easily one of the biggest, most established affiliate marketing networks around. CJ houses affiliate networks for some of the Internet's largest retailers. This is an absolute must-join program for any affiliate marketer.

eBay Partner Network
https://www.ebaypartnernetwork.com/
Another "Pay-Per-Click" ad network that pays you to send traffic to eBay. You can earn more if you repeatedly send over high-quality traffic. Great for selling physical products.

Amazon Associates Program
https://affiliate-program.amazon.com/
Advertise Amazon products with the Associates Program. Amazon is an enormous company with a lot of trust and people absolutely love to shop there. Earn commissions on ANYTHING bought from Amazon or a 3rd party. The Associates Program is my personal favorite.

Chitika
http://www.chitika.com/
Similar to Google Adsense, but the ads are targeted based on your reader's location, or search engine query. Chitika serves ads based on exactly what your readers are looking for. Chitika pays per click.

Clickbank
http://www.clickbank.com/
Clickbank is a site that needs no explanation. The marketplace houses tons of digital products for sale. There are a few interesting products in there, so make sure you know who you're affiliating with and that you trust the advertiser.

Buy Sell Ads
http://www.buysellads.com/
Buy Sell Ads takes the pain out of selling advertising space on your website. You let them know the amount of ad space you have available, and they'll handle everything else. Two drawbacks: they like to work with bigger, more established sites & they do take a nice percentage of your ad sale.

Direct Ad Sales
http://www.yourwebsite.com/
This is obviously not an advertising network, but if you have the time and resources, sell advertising space on your own. You'll have full-control over who can advertise, how much money you charge, and you won't have to worry about a company shutting you down.

Find a Company's Affiliate Program
A general rule of thumb, if a company sells something online, you can find their affiliate program somewhere. Most major retailers will have an "Affiliate Program" link in their footer. If you can't find it on their site, search their name + "affiliate program" and you're bound to come up with a lead.

Please share other ad networks that you have used in the comments below. I'll do my best to keep this page updated with all kinds of income opportunities.

Hey Steve, thanks for making this training. I was making about $20 a month from Google Adsense. But after reading that, I'm going to switch all my ads to Kontera. Not sure about Info Links though, LOL. Thankfully I use a type of strategy that doesn't mix these ads up with my important content, so it's all good.

Chitika is another option as well and you may want to test all 3 and see what performs the best (or a hybrid of all three).

The whole Google thing gets more bizarre. Banning adwords accounts is one thing but adsense?!? Fine tutorial though, I am sure the other advertisers will not be so anal.

One thing I've noticed is that other ad networks give you affiliate managers you can actually TALK to. Google has the discussion boards, but that's not nearly the same as having a contact within the company that you can ask questions, get feedback, etc.

Eventually their whole "no customer support" angle is going to come back to haunt them.

It has already haunted them, I don't know a single person that feels as though they can get proper help from Google when they need it. If they weren't so good at what they do (providing relevant search results), people would have moved on a long time ago.

Goes to prove that advertisers and publishers aren't really their customers, their customers are the people actually searching.

Excellent piece here Steve.

We have always emphasized that using Adsense is working for pennies when you can be earning dollars. The reason that we have always stated this is because the people that are advertising (the Adsense) on your site are the actual people benefiting from your content as they are generating the sizable revenue chunks (the $).

The cool part is that when you own your own site, you have full control...you can do whatever you want. If you want to try Adsense, you can. If you want to promote Amazon products, you can. If you want to run relevant affiliate offers, that is an approach as well.

There are much better alternatives to Adsense so for those people out there that are frustrated by a suspension or feel they are earning pennies, try something else!
