WARNING: While this technique of uploading an image from Amazon and using the text link will still work, Amazon's TOS says it is unacceptable and they will ban accounts using this technique.

So, you are limited to using the image link in the SiteStripe.

Don't get banned do it the way they recommend.

Sadly, unless you take your own image of a product this means that adblockers will block your image. You will want to provide a way for a text link to work if this happens.(When it happens)

Amazon won't work for everyone in the States. Certain States have implemented what is called a Nexus Law. In these States you can purchase Amazon products but Affiliates are excluded. I believe some of these States are Colorado, the Carolinas and Georgia. Things might have changed so check to see if you live in an excluded State when you sign-up for Amazon.

In this training I cover:

  • How to add an image to your post
  • How to align your image
  • Where to sign-up for Amazon
  • How to grab an image from Amazon
  • How to link an image to Amazon
  • How to insert an Amazon Image
  • What happens when you encounter an Ad-Blocker

Note: In this tutorial I place an Image and an Amazon Image on the same page to demostrate how to do each. You will want to use the Amazon Image. Amazon's changed TOS prohibits the use of an uploaded Amazon Image (you can still use an image from elsewhere if you desire).

I hope you enjoy this and that it answers the questions that you may have.

This seems very technical referring to my second day in the program. I do understand what you are doing, but it has been a long time since I have been that familiar with the nuances of a computer. Hopefully this will come back to me as we progress.Thank you for visiting this problem

Well, I just watched this and I'm more confused than ever. It's a nice video, but this was in 2016, wasn't it? I don't know if this is still okay, and as I said, I'm confused because of the warning that's here about not copying and pasting. So I just don't get it. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi there,

I shared in my latest post blog: the replies which I've got from Amazon.
Additionally, I requested access to API Product tool and I was granted, even if I did not made any sale yet.

I hope this helps.

Best,
Maria

Hello Labman,
I have just watched the 'Amazon links tutorial' thanks for that you made it look and sound so simple.
I had done this (also watched Kyle's tutorial), A couple of questions thought...
1) When someone clicks on my image or text link and are taken to Amazon, the page that opens is my page on Amazon with my name shown (as did yours in your tutorial). Is this an issue as I don't want to be purchasing 100 of these items? or is this just the way Amazon links the sale to my account?
.
2) When placing the items I am selling through Amazon, or any other affiliate link, do I set up a New Post or New Page for each item?

Appreciate your time.
Aaron.

Hey Aaron,

When someone clicks on my Amazon ad ... well, the Classical Locomotive Battery Operated Toy Train for example ... Canadians get taken to a page that looks like the one in the screen print below...

You need to have the product you wish to advertise after you've signed into your Amazon Associate account, loaded BEFORE you take the Text, Image or Text and Image link to use on your website.

As for separating the Amazon ads, personally, I offer relevant Amazon ads in different posts. However, I have also included some Amazon ads in Widgets that reside on the right hand side of my post and pages ... you know, separate from the information offered in my posts.

Hope this helps you.

Thanks for the heads up on this, Craig! I guess I'd missed this before, but now that I see it...well, guess I have some fixing to do!

I was using only screen shots and adding the affiliate link into them along with a text link somewhere in the post up until now...but, I guess I'll be getting rid of those and adding Amazon's image links without text instead...

Seems like the Amazon image ads with text didn't show up not only with ad blockers, but also when in private browsing on Firefox either last time I checked. So, hopefully the ones without text will still work when in private mode too.

Thanks again! Now, off to work I go!
Best wishes :) ~Sherry

That was a helpful video, thanks ;-) I just tried it and it worked very well. One thing though, i've tried to put a link from amazon inside a text of a content i wrote. I didn't want an image. I just wanted to have a link from a text to amazon. It worked quite well, i selected the text, click on add a link, paste the link i copied earlier from amazon. But the link is underline. Can we change it?.

That is a theme feature. You can edit the css or format it manually. Underline indicates to people that it is a link.

Ok that's what I thought. But right now, as I'm not a premium I can't change my CSS I think. Anyway, i guess that's better to leave it underline for people to know it's a link?
Thanks for your help

Labman, I remember watching your original video back in 2014 when I started and it was a massive help. Just one question though. I note that you screenshot the image rather than using Amazon image code. There have been recent rumours about this being in breach of their agreement. What are your thoughts?

Yes, I believe that this is now the case. The reason for this is to get around the ad blockers.

Amazon image code will be blocked so it's a catch 22. Will people see the information or will it be suppressed.

Featured images are a bit of a problem too. Not so much bothered by the lack of product images within the post since I embed quite a lot of YT videos and I have started adding a few extra affiliate links to where people can see close-up images of certain important product features. I wonder if my lack of images on the page could actually generate more clicks as a result of not giving them everything?

Ok, Here's what I'm trying to do. I have written a review of a product relative to my niche .I have found the product on Amazon.I am trying to link the amazon buying info to my review content. That is where I'm having difficulty, At this point since I'm new I can fine tune everything else later as I get more comfortable, right now that's where I'm at.

HI Labman, just gone thru yr video training on Amazon Links. Its very helpful, I have 1 question.
If I use Image+Text for the Amazon link in my webpage, will some one(visitor to my webpage) that have Ad Block be able to see the Image+Text ? or only blank page
Reply

using the image+text link will not show when an ad blocker is in use.

What a great tutorial! This prompted me to go to my Amazon Associates page only to find out it was closed for not using it (I've had it since 2013). I ended up creating a new one and I hope to put it to good use...especially after all I've learned from you, Craig!

I also just activated SiteStripe. Huge time saver!

Hi @Labman,
Thank for the training for Amazon link. But i have another issue with Amazon:
When i try to create my amazon'affiliate associated account in order to have an ID and use it with my differents websites, which all have amazon's stores, while i reach the step of verification,it reject my phone's number, saying that: " amazon is prohibiting to call this number try other differents phone's numbers'' And when i try others phone's numbers ,i receive the same message. However the first phone number i used is the same i first used to create my primary simple costomer account. And my Country is not prohibiting from amazon. It's a big problem for me to move ahead ,i even write to their support two time but so far,no solution....Please i need a help from you if someone can know what to do,tells me how to proceed?

Thanks

Jean

Thanks Labman for the updated version. Much appreciated!

If you get the time, would you also be able to create any training in creating astores on a website? Some of the research I have done so far on astores is quite old and a new updated version would be greatly appreciated!
If not, don't worry about it...
Thanks in advance if possible,
Paul

I've never been a huge fan of AStores. They have a low conversion in general but 1 is more than none I guess.

Thanks, Labman. This is what I have been working on the last few days.

Is there any way to give someone a link with our Amazon Affiliate id and if they go thru that link, no matter where they go and purchase on Amazon, I could get the commission?

For example: A friend wants to order something from Beauty dept, and also from the Book Department.

I thought I read about an application that did such.

Amazon does that. You need to get them to Amazon using your link.
Once they are there, any sales made in the next 24 hours get commission (assuming they are not special items that are excluded) It is a short term cookie(24 hr) so they will need to get in the habit of using your link to arrive at Amazon if they are family or friends and want to give you regular commissions.
