I want you to explore your site's files a bit using either the Site Explorer or FileZilla. Here's what you might find:

wp-content This is the folder that all of your customizable elements are held. Theme files, Image Uploads, Plugins and more are all stored in here. If you want to delete an annoying plugin, simply navigate to this folder, go into the Plugins folder and delete the offending plugin's folder.

You can also investigate how Wordpress stores your image uploads.

If you want to mess around with your theme, the files are stored in wp-content >> themes.

File Permissions

There is an easier way to edit your themes, and that involves editing file permissions. I'm not going to double up on content here, rather point you to welshy's excellent tutorial on this subject.

These are primarily the reasons I use FTP. As I mentioned in the introduction, you may never need to use FTP. But if you do, know it's very simple. And when in doubt, ask a question in the comments!

Thanks,

Mark

You can't access your website through the way you described anymore, and when I click on that email management thing it wants you to, I just get told, that doesn't exist...
There is a bug report on this problem, but since only premium members can post links (At least allow trials one link a day, just for these kinda situations...), I can't make it any easier for you.

Yeah, you no longer have to log into plesk to do anything. We have completely removed plesk.

Yes, I guess that's nice and everything, but the email management doesn't work atm, so I'm kinda having a hard time using this tutorial... :D

You don't need FTP to install and work on your website, so I would suggest you don't worry about it when starting out.

I cannot quickconnect in FileZilla. it says the server cannot connect. Does anyone know what is wrong or how I can fix this problem.

Are you sure you have the details entered correctly? Double check them, and if that still doesn't work try contacting WA Hosting support with a support ticket (https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/websites) and make sure you tell them what the full error message is.

I cannot quickconnect in FileZilla either... and @mhamilt link to WA Hosting support comes up with a blank screen, so how do I send them the info? I cut and pasted it into "report a bug" but where does that go? seems like a blog post to me...

After I log in on step 5, I don't have the option of clicking on file manager. Anyone know why? I only have access to the email options.

When you login to Plesk try clicking on the Home link top left, if you still can't see the other icons I would submit a support ticket via this page https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/websites sounds like maybe the domain isn't setup for physical hosting.

As Welshy says, submit a support ticket and in the meantime try using the FileZilla application (on page three of the tutorials). Mark.
