*Update 15th 2018: this training is outdated because of the recent overhaul of the SiteComment platform. If I have the time I will update the training.

Cheers, Anke

Hi everyone,

Recently I have read a few blogs regarding the site comments platform here in WA. Most writers were complaining that a few of the comments are feedbacks rather than comments on their actual blog post.

I remember when I started using the site comments that I felt overwhelmed. I thought I had to comment on any page that popped up even though I might not be interested or didn't know what to say.

So, I decided to create this tutorial to help newcomers and members who are in the process of building their websites to navigate this incredibly helpful tool.

I will cover the following;

  1. Why should you use the site comments tool
  2. Steps on how to use it
  3. Differences between comments and feedback
  4. Social sharing

I do hope you will find this tutorial helpful. If so, please hit the green button and share.

Let's get started!

I think it is great you did this. Unfortunately, good comments are an issue and people that criticise often forget there are new members learning here and what seems obvious to many of us is completely new to them.:) ~Gina

Hi Gina, that was one of the reasons I created the training. When I started as a Newbie and used the site comments platform. I didn't know that I can change the websites and thought I have to comment on every single one of them. It also took me ages to discover the 'edit my interest' feature. Little things like that, that make a huge difference.
So I hope, more people will find my tutorial.:-)
Best,

Hi there, Trish, I know that there are sometimes issues with the system when you try to submit your comment.(as mentioned in the tutorial) I experienced problems myself. It can be very annoying when you put a lot of effort and time into writing the comment.
I am not exactly sure what happened in your case. I would try and type your comment directly into the site comments form. You can download Grammarly (as the free version) in your browser to check for spelling etc. Saves the copy and paste process.
If the URL has changed, because the site has changed (your screenshot) then your comment for the other site can't be submitted. Once the new site pops up, you can't go back to the previous one.
I hope it makes sense. Please let me know how you get on.

Yupper Anke, I figured the boo-boo with not being able to submit the first comment ... but not what changed the website that was showing when I came back to submit the comment.

Also tested signing onto WA using my tablet that is the ONLY device I own with Google Chrome loaded on it. Personally I do NOT like Google Chrome. I prefer Firefox. Anyway ... I went through the whole thing again ... this time WITHOUT my two monitors to work from ... and the silly comment I submitted wanted MORE info so I chatted on about how the form I was using is NOT browser compatible ... then that wasn't enough so I said I did not like having to type with one finger ... and FINALLY the stupid comment went.

So ... this definitely appears to be ANOTHER browser compatibility issue ... ggrrrrrrr. Oooh well.

Thanks for caring! {{{HUGS!}}}
