At this point in my Internet business career (3 years), I've come to realize that competition is JUST a secondary thing like what you've said in your video.

I used to get intimidated by it. But slowly over time, I'm doing my best to view it instead as an 'opportunity' to see what else I could add to the industry.

Still, I want to give easier niches a shot. They look like fun :)

Thank you, this was a great video! What a relief other people have also made some niche mistakes.

I think my first niche is a little too broad. It´s poker, but a poker site dedicated to neuroatypical poker players. The problem is, there are many big poker sites already, and there just may not be enough neuroatypical poker players. Well, I´m one of them, but I do n´t know how many others there are, really. The neuroatypical aspect of my website is the only targeted aspect, and the poker niche is a bit too broad.

So, I´ve been thinking about a new niche, because writing about poker strategy is also becoming mentally straining to me. It takes a lot of brain power!

That´s another thing to consider when choosing a niche; are you able to write about it regularly? If it takes a lot of research and thinking, it can become straining. Well, not for some people, maybe, but I have limited energy, and I ca n´t write enough articles about a topic that requires very much thinking.

Because of this, I thought I should try a "lighter" niche. First I was thinking about a DIY website, but there are lots of those, and it would have to be more targeted. Then I had this wonderful idea about a unicorn website. I did some research, and to my surprise, there is not any decent website dedicated to unicorns! Some unicorn-related domains are already taken, but they are for sale, so clearly they are dead sites.

I´m too excited about this unicorn niche idea now to say no to it. There are tons of people interested in unicorns, and also tons of unicorn products to promote. Ok, maybe they do n´t have high commissions, but if I´m able to write about unicorn stuff several posts a week, it should make up for lower commissions.

Hi Robert
I really enjoyed watching this video. I found the link to this when going back over some training that I had missed due to the updates a while back and it is a great reminder to me of how to simplify the niche ideas. You communicate your criteria very well. I feel I have bitten off more than I can chew in my niche decisions and am hoping to go back over my websites and refresh them all a little and target my audience a little better. Thank you.

Yeah, choosing a niche can take some time and it's good to "chew" the decision well so you know you're on the right path.

Hi Roope
I love this video! I kinda know my niche may not be the one to make the most money because I think most products will not be big ticket and sometimes I have worried about this but I am truly passionate about it and I will make it the best of its kind so even though you identify the potential for income as a big factor in choosing a niche, I am encouraged because your number one factor is passion for your subject and I have that.

I did consider tearing it all up and starting over with a whole new niche but in the end I decided to carry on. Not because I am stubborn but because I think I will make it work with a lot of effort and because what I learn will help me to make my next one better than the first.

After that, I am going to do Bootcamp because I think only when you have been through the process a few times can you speak with any authority to people you hope to recruit to WA.

Your training is so upbeat and friendly. I love that you are happy to talk on camera, but you don't hog the screen or go crazy with production values like you are some TV anchor man. You are warm, encouraging and honest and I will be following you closely and hope to watch some more training soon!

Best wishes

Alison
