Jim Carroll's 23rd of 25 Trends For 2025 Worries Me

An officemate shared an article a couple of hours ago. Since lists like this trigger my interest more often than not, I scanned through it.

Somehow, I got worried upon stumbling upon #23.

As I always do, I looked for the post online and found out the whole story in his blog.

But who is Jim Carroll?

Upon googling the name, the first result is a deceased author and a poet. So I scrolled down a bit and found Jim Carroll, the futurist.

He’s widely acknowledged as one of the world’s leading global futurists, trends and innovation experts. He transforms growth-oriented organizations into high-velocity innovation heroes. And what makes him super credible are his insights of 10 years, not just a year or two, and had always been booked by large organizations like Disney, NASA, PGA, Johnson and Johnson and so much more. His blog site tells how credible he is (though I’m still looking for his precision rate).

Anyhow, here’s the list.

1. Cash will have all but disappeared. .

2. Africa will have ceased to be a rural continent.

3. Much of the world has ‘gone up.’

4. We’ll see the first human live to the age of 150.

5. A constant stream of bio-connectivity data drives healthcare decisions.

6. The fastest growing profession involves people known as ‘personal health concierges.’

7. Plants will ‘talk’ to us.

8. The concept of TV as a ‘physical device’ has disappeared.

9. Micro nationals dominate global markets.

10. Re-generative energy technology is everywhere; it’s transformative, storable, re-usable.

11. Poll-democracy takes flight.

12. Paper is really something ‘from the olden days’.

13. Grown up!

14. Crowd thinking has replaced most forms of peer research.

15. Regenerative DNA farms will abound.

16. The package is the product.

17. What we did for heart health in the 20th century, we did for brain health in 2025.

18. Most industries have gone upside down.

19. The concept of an education degree has come to an end; “just-in-time knowledge factories” dominate the educational landscape.

20. The electrical grid of the early 21st century is gone; micro-grids dominate energy supply and use.

21. Sub-Saharan Africa emerged as the world’s new China.

22. Light has been stopped in its tracks.

23. Domain names disappeared.

24. Apple is delisted.

25. Jim Carroll shoots his age! (related to golf!)

But were you able to initially relate with #23?

You can check out the full story here.

Why did it worry me for a while?

It’s because the year 2025 is my ultimate plan to retire from my day job (though I’m also looking at 2020 if my online goals are met by then). It may be 10 years from now, but time flies.

If domain names would disappear, what will be in it for us who’ll still be working online (not to mention that I’ll still have 2 teenagers in school by then)?

The #23 further explains“Instead, people now purchase individual light spectrums (or wavelength’s) for personal and business use. It was no longer necessary to have a cumbersome bit of software to figure out how to route yourself to global knowledge. Instead, with your own individual bank of light spectrum (of which there are an infinite number), people invite you to visit their personal information spaces, holographic memory decks and visual worlds by linking to their particular spectrum. Light-on!”

Quite complicated to fully understand for now, right?

Since I’m more of an optimistic person rather than a pessimistic one, I also thought that by then, Wealthy Affiliate founders and members will figure out significant online trends even before that happens.

And when it does, we’ll probably be more than ready to adapt and continue to do the things that we love.

As for now though, it’s good to know that these things exist and that we just can’t totally ignore them.

It would always pay to be informed so we can prepare accordingly. I think 10 years is ample enough in terms of preparation. Most importantly, I think we’ll still be a community of people looking after the welfare of fellow Wealthy Affiliates.

What do you think fellow WAs? : )

Interesting stuff...I think that things ARE changing at an ever faster rate, people who have their head stuck in the sand risk becoming irrelevant, especially if they are politicians, and that many of the things he speaks of are plausible...Thanks for the referral to a good read! Dave : )

You're welcome Dave! You're right esp. on politicians. : )

Will continue to share interesting reads and thoughts..
