Three Month Anniversary, Changes on The Way!

Today is my three month anniversary with WA. It has certainly gone by quickly! I have learned a ton, and started off with no idea what my focus would be. Then, the dogs inspired me! I put lots of time and energy into My Doggie Doodle, and while Boo and Ruby are known to a lot a more people then they were in August, the Amazon payscale has taken some of the steam out of my efforts in that direction.

I've started to focus on two other businesses that are a bit more lucrative, and that has taken away from my time in building My Doggie Doodle, but I will get back to it once I've gotten some momentum going with the other businesses.

On The Personal Home Front - Change is in The Air

Within the past week, it has become very clear that I am going to be very, very busy with my life for the next few months. When I am out of work for an extended period of time, there is always a reason. I discovered this week the reason for this unemployed stretch.

Here is what's coming:

  1. A very long story short, my husband and I have a six year old legal case that will finally settle in December or January
  2. We will be giving up our house. In eight years, this is the second time unemployment has threatened us with inability to pay the steep mortgage. So, we're looking at this settlement as an opportunity to get a fresh start.
  3. Since moving into this house 8 years ago, we have had challenge, after challenge, after challenge. We affectionately call this house "the last house on the left" because it is the last house on the left, but some of you may also know the movie. That is where we got the nickname.
  4. Our neighbors have moved on a few years ago now. They swear that the ground is cursed, as their house was built just after ours and they had challenge, after challenge, after challenge from time they moved in.
  5. We'll be moving into a house nearby, which my sister owns. She just moved and hasn't yet sold the old house. We will be buying it outright, and be doing some major renovations.

The bad news is we're giving up my corner property, new construction (8 years old now) single home that I love and buying a twin. Scaling down is going to be a problem, I do love my STUFF!

The good news is I will finally have the fire place I've always wanted. And I get to do the whole designing/remodeling thing. Of course, others will do the work, but I will be creating my own kitchen/dining room combo, and bathroom and master bedroom renovations.

Needless to say, once the settlement happens, things are going to start moving fast. I'll probably have to scale back my work here a bit as well during that time. But I am not going away, just refocusing for a bit.

So that's where I am after three months at WA! Still lots to learn,, still lots of support to get and give within WA! Cheers everyone!

Whew! Lots on your plate Sandra, may your plans all come to fruition and be rewarding! Strength in overcoming the challenges facing you!
~Arthur

Thanks, Arthur!

Sounds very exciting Sandra. My dream is to have one of those teeny tiny houses lol. I forget what they call them but it is very space efficient. :)

Thanks, Angela! I grew up in a row home then bought my own row home, then moved here, where it's double the size. We're not quite going back to a row home, but I've got a lot of stuff to get rid of! That's for sure!

I learned to purge frequently years ago. I've never lived anywhere for more than 3 years from birth to present. I got tired of moving certain things lol. That pretty all-be-it very large and heavy dining room table didn't seem such a necessity lol.
I do have 3 totes of books that I haven't been able to part with and another with movies. The 3 totes used to be 5. :)
I can now fit all my belongings in a 10 foot moving truck and have room left over! Only because my mattress, box spring, washer and dryer take up a bit of space.
And when I buy me one of those teeny houses, I am going to park it square in the middle of a couple of acres so I don't have to worry about nosy neighbors, like the one I have now. lol

Wow, wishing I were you right now! Yes, that's the way to do it, park n the middle of those acres! The walls are pretty thin otherwise!

I'm going to get one of those that sits on a flat bed trailer I think lol. That way when I get ready to move I can just hook it up to a dualy and carry on lol.
I had to help my mom do some purging. She's an accountant and had their personal income taxes from 1966 (when they got married) up to present day! lol

That's the way to do it Angela! Oh, I know, when we sold my parent's house we found stuff from the 50's, receipts, bank statements, along with Christmas cards we sent my Mom, Mother's Day cards, lots of stuff!

We had to move from our home that my parents had for 20 years and i grew up in, This happened in Aug. At first i was sad but now i know it was for the best. I hope everything works out for you Sandra:)

Thank you Jazmin! I know it will be a little sad, but it's time to tear off the band aid! I'm sorry you had to go through that, I know when we sold my parent's house it was so sad, so many memories growing up there, but my parent's were both gone.

Thank you Sandra and I'm sorry to hear about your parents:)

Thank you, Jazmin. They were both in their 80's and we were fortunate to have them for a very long time.

That's great, Sandra! Yes sometimes life requires us to refocus. Congrats on your 3 month anniversary! In the Philippines they call it monthsary LOL!

I like that term! Thanks!

LOL! I didn't know about this term until I saw my girlfriend's younger sister using it on Facebook.

I guess it's part of the new language like YOLO, LOL, and all the others!

I guess you're right, Sandra.

I would say there will always be more to learn.

As for the move and change. Sometimes that could be the best moments in life.

Hope it all runs smoothly for you!

Thanks, Damien!

It sounds like you're going into it with a positive mindset and that helps tremendously. I know when we were going through the worst of our money issues, even hitting bottom was a relief because I knew things could only get better.

Yes, Kristy! Bottom was back in 2011, and somehow, by the grace of God we survived. For the first time since living with my parents, I will be mortgage/rent free and that is a huge burden lifted. I'm betting I will get a job once all this is over. It almost makes up for all the pain and suffering over the past 6 years.

I can imagine. We have a few bills I hope to pay off soon and that will make a dramatic difference in our income too. I wish I could figure out how to break our curse, but I don't want to push it.... we're doing okay right now so I'm happy!

And I hope you do get a GOOD job :)

Thanks, Kristy. Things always work out over time, it's just getting from point A to point B that will drive you crazy if you let it!

Change is definitely in the air! Good luck with all! New beginnings are great! M

Thank you Melody. At least I know my eventual retirement income doesn't have to go to real estate taxes like it would here. Gotta think about those things now.

Wow! I am happy for you! Even though there will be changes it truly sounds like in the end things will be so much better and more peaceful for you! And being able to design your home exactly as you desire is a great blessing! The fireplace sounds wonderful!:)

Thanks, Christa. It's funny because I've spent so much time in that house over the almost 30 years that my sister lived there, I was wondering if it will feel like home or still like I'm at my sister's house!

I guess after all the changes it will be ours and I'll feel right at home.

Oh I am sure it definitely will! I have seen some really beautiful transformations on homes. Sometimes you can hardly tell it is the same home but more importantly it not only has a new look but a new personality. That is what you and your husband will do, you will bring to this house your own personality as you transform it into your home! :) And I forgot to say Happy Anniversary! :)

Thank you, Christa!

Congrats, and sounds like its time to move on and wish you the best. :))

Thank you, Kim!

First off, congratulations on your 3 month anniversary! There is only better to come. Thanks for the interesting update - I bet you're fairly glad to get out of the 'cursed ground', after all!

All the best,
James

LOL, yes and the most ironic thing is that this is settlement is happening because of an accident that happened on the property of the builder who built this house. I think the message is pretty clear, time to leave "the last house on the left."
