Some Things I've Learned In The Last Weeks.......

It's been a challenging time for me and My Doggie Doodle, along with the other two business opportunities I'm involved with. I thought this information might hep someone else to avoid the drama and wasted time, so here goes.

You Tube Issues

  1. The music on My Doggie Doodle's video is now changed. Even though I had permission from the composer and performer to use it, You Tube decided it was a copyrights violation, which I disputed. Today, I find that someone has added advertising for the song, along with a link to Amazon where they can buy it below my video (no big deal, I don't object to that).
  2. I tried to monetize the video and paid through Adwords to have it promoted. Good news, lots of views. Bad news, my "monetize" request was denied due to copyrights claims. Today, I find that the video is monetized, by whom, I don't know. So the video and promotions got stopped. I am now in the process of replacing the background music with some generic, non copyrighted song.

Hosting Issues

  1. I was having trouble sending and receiving emails from my site, and some people who signed up for my newsletter never received the verification notices. After a few days of investigation done by the kind folks at MailPoet Plugin, I discover that my IP address is "spam" listed in 7 or 8 different places.
  2. I start putting in manual requests to get my site delisted, which worked for a few. The violations go back to the beginning of the year. I didn't even have a website until August.
  3. After a conversation with GoDaddy, I spend $150.00 to get an SSL certificate, which means I have my very own IP address and can't get blamed for someone else's spam, along with a security system that will alert me of any changes to my site and fix any malware, etc.
  4. After the SSL certificate was added, my Amazon aStores and Widgets stopped working. I have the widgets working again, but not the aStores and Amazon doesn't support WP so they can't help me.

Lessons Learned:

  • You Tube had terrible customer service and no way to contact them with issues
  • USE GENERIC MUSIC or write your own
  • When you make a change to your site, even if it's for the better, the "snowball effect" will kick in and other problems will arise.

I'm sorry there are no pictures, I'm too aggravated to look for any!

Hope this helps somebody avoid some trauma.

I'm so sorry Sandra, I know you are working hard to get everything going. I hope you get the amazon stuff worked out. I still love the video, I thought it was clever and cute. Thanks for the heads up, your still gonna be successful anyways despite the bumps on the road. :) Wish you the best!

Thanks, I hope you're right, I'm starting to wonder......

You better not wonder, just keep going. You're very creative, it just takes a little time.

You are really learning a lot!

Yes, and as always, the hard way!

AS difficult as this has been for you, it has also been an education. Every time you hit a roadblock, you found a way around it. That is life. You can let your roadblocks stop you or you can allow them to challenge you to find another way. When you accept the challenges, you are on the road to success. Congratulations, you have that one behind you. Take care.
Glenda

Thanks, Glenda.

Sorry to hear you went through all that. Your site sounds like it is on the move though. :))

Those are just the issues with My Doggie Doodle! There are several other blogs I can do on my experiences with trying advertise through Ad Words and Bing Ads!

I have to check into adwords, wasn't crazy about adsense. :)

sorry to hear thanks for sharing

Wow that is some rough internet waters you have been going through, so sorry to hear about this Sandra. Sure hope you are able to get your Amazon aStores and widget issues resolved soon! :( Thank you for sharing.

You're welcome, Christa!

Ohw what a day you had, I totally understand your annoyance. I hope your next music will blow the roof off over you tube

Thanks, Loes. I don't know if there will be another You Tube video at this point! I just let the composer and artist know about all of this. He had no idea what is going on so now he is going to talk to his lawyer about it! LOL! I hope You Tube gets CRUSHED!

They seem to have a monopoly

I hear the frustration, my friend. I can only imagine. And since you had permission from the composer to use that music, I fail to see how it's copyright violation. UGH

I know Carla. Read my answer to Loes. Now the true owner knows what is going on and he's taking it to his lawyer. There are loads of videos using his song on You Tube with no credit, nada. If I had to be aggravated, I'm going to stir the pot for somebody else!

Thanks for sharing Sandra. That is really too bad all that work didn't pay off. It just seems like one big problem to another. Hope you see better days!

Thanks! I'm about ready to chuck all this, but I don't have any options right now.

ouch, sorry you had to hit these bumps.
Thanks a million for sharing with us!

You are very welcome!
