Embracing The Negative
Embrace the negative in your life.
Why in the world would we want to embrace the negative things that come our way?
There are literally millions of things that could happen to us today that could produce a negative experience. If we don't learn to embrace the negative, we're going be quite unhappy in life.
I read an article today that pointed out that negative experiences are nature's way of stopping us from going down a path that wasn't in line with our goals and dreams.
The difficulty lies in the fact that our brains are wired by default to pay attention to negative experiences as a survival instinct and self-preservation, something that came in handy thousands of years ago, but not so much today.
What we need to do is rewire our brains so we understand that the negativity in our lives doesn't really exist. It's only there because we decided to label it as such.
By changing our thought processes slightly we can view these experiences as something positive. Let's say you fail to get traffic on a sign up page. Instead of thinking you've failed. Think, wow, since this didn't work I can concentrate my efforts on writing better content.
I'll leave you with this quote from Tim Denning.
"Negative experiences are destiny’s way of moving away the boulders that lie in front of you and helping focus your mind."
Wishing you much success,
Michael

I like how you reframed the negative experience you described. “It’s not what happens to us it’s how we react to what happens to us”.

Negative experiences are God's detours--at least that's what I believe! Great post, Michael!

Negative experiences have taught me some of the most important lessons of all. You are totally right - it’s all about how we perceive it in the longer term
Thanks Dave.
