Printables, Moving, And Increasing Vocabulary
Hi, everyone!
So I know I said I would post more blogs, but of course, life happens and I cannot post as much as I want to. But all good news here.
We're preparing for our move to California this summer, so I've been slowly packing, organizing and throwing stuff away. This whole California move has given me life. I'm so excited to finally be in a living situation where I'll be close to immediate family. My mom is already talking about how much she's going to cook for me. I'm excited but mad at the same time. I've lost all of the baby weight from DJ finally, but as soon my mom is around to cook for me, I'm going to turn into a butterball again. At least I'll be a happy butterball.
This month, I really took the dive into working on my printables and posting them to Teachers Pay Teachers and Etsy. Believe it or not, I've gotten 4 sales in a matter of weeks. And that's really good, considering most people have to sit around and wait for months just to get one sale. Since my niche is educational, I have more outlets to post my work and I'm not limited to only Etsy.
I'm having a lot of fun with these SAT vocabulary reading comprehension activities. I'm writing short (often funny or scary) stories and embedding SAT and test prep level vocabulary words. I originally had the idea for teachers that teach AP classes or honors classes that focus on vocabulary building. As I've started making them, though, I realize that they could be useful for adults preparing to take standardized tests or adults that just want to increase their vocabulary. I also went back and started copyrighting all of my work. My copyright is "Happy Black Teacher Productions."
I just had fun writing a short love story about a werewolf and zombie that decided to have a relationship with one another. In this short love story the featured words are lithe, livid, usurp, nuance, and shroud.
I'll plan to give these to my favorite teacher at the school before I move, but everyone else will have to purchase them because I don't like the people here that much. They're very arrogant and rude.
But it's surprising how much easier it is run an online business and feel enthusiastic when you choose something that you have passion for. At least that's how it works for me.
But y'all, I'm doing my thang!
Sincerely
Your Happy Black Teacher

Good luck in the move to California. I moved to CA about 27 years ago to get away from cold and snow. Now living on the central coast, it amazing.... incredibly expensive, but amazing.

Sounds fantastic Tia!
Many congratulations on your progress so far and all the very best with the move my friend!
Thank you! It will be tiring but worth it.
You're most welcome my friend and I am sure that it will be...
But, nothing great in life comes easy! :-)
