The Three P's for Success

Over the years I've started many business ventures - several of which have been successful. I have learned a simple formula for succeeding during those years and ventures, and I wish to share it with you here, in a very short, simple post.

Simple, I say, because attaining success is just that: simple.

I did not say easy, no ... it can, and often is, extremely difficult. You will work hard and long. However, if you follow this formula, and never quit following it, you will, if your business venture/idea has any merit at all, eventually realize some measure of success - anywhere from moderate to massive!

So here we go, with The Old Silly's formula:

The Three P's for Success!

Positive Attitude

There is an old wise saying:

"There are those who think they can, and those who think they can't - and they are both right."

That saying fits perfectly here.

You must believe in yourself, your capabilities, your product or service, your business model, and you must absolutely believe that the Universe is just anxious to bestow blessings and abundance upon you. Never allow doubt or depression to dwell in your mind and/or spirit. Nurture positive thoughts, and cast out any demons of despair. Thoughts and attitudes are powerful. Use that power to your advantage, not your disadvantage!

Persistence

Another old wise saying comes to mind, here:

"Quitters never win, and winners never quit!"

Again, that pretty much sums it up. You have to stay the course.

Walt Disney was turned down by 99 banks for his amusement park idea. NINETY-NINE! Had he thrown in the towel, given up, and never gone to that 100th bank, we would never have had Disneylands in our world.

Thomas Edison, the historically credited inventor of the light bulb, is said to have performed something like 1,000 experiments before coming upon the prototype that worked.

He was asked, at one point, what it felt like, to have had so many failures before finally succeeding. He replied (I am paraphrasing), "I never had any failures - each so-called 'failed' experiment was a success in showing me how not to make a light bulb!"

Now that is what you call persistence and positive attitude!

The point is, once you give up, you are finished. Failure. In the words of one of my favorite motivational speakers, Les Brown, you must be persistent to the point where your mantra becomes:

"It's not over until I win!"

Patience

I just love the prayer:

"Dear God, please give me patience ... and give it to me right now!"

When success does not come as soon as you want or expect it, what are you doing in the meantime? Whining? Grumping? Taking hours or days off for amusement, because you just can't take it anymore? If so, you are in violation of the first two P's, right?

Look, we all get impatient. I do, you do, everybody does. You've been working hard, for a long time, you've kept your attitude and spirits positive and high, and yet ... darn! ... seems like nothing is working out yet, no indications of success in the foreseeable future.

Patience, my friend, patience. Take a chill pill, relax, stay the course in good faith, positive attitude and perseverance, and your patience will pay off. It may not come within your expected timeline parameters, but it will come if you adhere strictly to -

The Three P's for Success!
