Posing/Cheering Section.

Recent events have me even more motivated to post this.

I will never forget the figure skating commentary at the 1988 Winter Olympics—mainly the one about Peggy Fleming and Dick Button. And their comments regarding Katerina Witt's long program. She skated to Carmen.

Peggy Fleming: "This is where she draws in the audience with her acting ability."

Dick Button: "But not her skating ability. This is a posing section. The Carmen seems to fall when the posing occurs."

So, how does this relate to WA? Simple. When I commented on posts being nothing but a cheerleading section, minus the pom-poms. This reminded me exactly of Dick Button's comment. So, what kind of posts are like Witt's Carmen? The ones that are glossy, pretty, polished, and professional-looking. But at the same time, it lacks real depth and content. Whenever I read something. I want to learn something. It's as simple as that. Long-winded posts can be dry, dull, and boring - right along with not learning much of anything. Also, many of us are busy. Such as having to work at a job, having health issue(s), a family to look after, you name it. This is why I say as little as possible and get to the point. And though I have a choice to skip reading these posing/cheerleading posts. Ignoring it doesn't do anyone justice, including the person who posts it. Now I know I risk being hated for making this post. But I have a right to speak my mind like anyone else. I call it as I see it. And WA also can't grow as a community without some constructive criticism.
