Hi all,
Over the last couple months I've fallen deeply into the world of audiobooks. I've always enjoyed reading fiction, but any sort of dry material, be it instructional, self help, histroy, etc is too difficult for me to stay focused on and retain the info. At first audiobooks were too easy for me to zone out while listening to, but Ive found they are excellent for that dry material I can't stay focused on in print.
I just recently finished the audiobook "100 Ways to Create Wealth" by Sam Beckford & Steve Chandler. The book wasn't really a book on things you can do to make money, so much as mindset shifts to make in order to be more successful. I think one of my favorites, which really rings true for all of us here at WA, was from a chapter towards the end of the book:
"#96. Give Yourself a Year"

This tip is all about slowing yourself down and actually working off a long term plan. Many folks are looking to gain mass amounts of moiney as fast as possible (aren't we all, though?). The problem with that thinking is you will never build something sustainable overnight and is a leading cause of burnout.
Instead, try to shift your mindset to think in terms of a year. Motivate yourself to have the best year possible for your business. Develop a 1 year plan and slowly chip away at it. Break your 1 year goal into easy to measure, monthly goals. Then break your monthly goals into smaller, measurable weekly goals.
If you stay focused on having the best, most productive year you can have, success will begin to flow to you naturally. It will also help protect you greatly from distractions that could derail your progress or your business.
Overall I would definitely recommend this book if you're looking for some motivation. Some of the ways are outdated, and I kind of cringe when he references the successes/quotes of Donald Trump (let's not get into that please). However, other than those 2 things, there are some really great tips and motivating chapters in this book.
Up Next On My Queue:Since I tend to enjoy printed fiction, I really only listen to self help and marketing strategies books over audiobooks. Below is my current listening queue:
- Atomic Habits by James Clear
- Think & Grow Rich by Napolean Hill
- No Excuses! by Brian Tracy
- The Confidence Gap by Russ Harris
- Unf*ck Your BRain by Faith G Harper
- How to Own Your own Mind by Napolean Hill
- How to Talk to Anyone by Lell Lowndes
So, what are your reading? Have you read any of the above? What books/audiobooks would you recommend?
Cheers and best of luck to you all in 2021!
