Okay, But Really This Time.

This must be the third time I've written this post. Maybe even more. Building a successful online business is tiring, but so worth it. I started here at WA back in college because I saw my student debt piling up and needed to figure something out. Enter Elite Guitar Reviews. EGR was my first ever website that I built following WA's tutorials and it did okay, but not good.

One day I was working on updating EGR and accidentally overwrote my entire Wordpress install, essentially deleting my whole site.

Enter TheBestGuitarLessons.

BGL quickly replaced EGR and became my baby. I worked countless nights, pulling all nighters, sitting at my desk working off of a laptop with a busted display, outputting to 2 super old, small monitors. I didn't care, it's all I needed to make it work.

By the time I graduated college (so after about 2-3 years of work) BGL was bringing in about 5,000 visits/mo and earning me around $1,000/mo on a good month (usually December). However, this success was reached only with SEO. (I never did any PPC, Email marketing and barely had any social presence. So this time around, that changes.)

Unfortunately when I graduated and my loan grace period ended, the harsh reality of what payments on $1000,000 of student loans look like. With that, I quickly needed a second job and the downfall of BGL began.

Years past and I allowed that passion I once had, that drive to build this business no matter the cost, had died.

Luckily, WA taught me the fundamentals of SEO, so I was able to get a job and continue to work in the Internet Marketing space throught the last 7 years. This has made it a bit easier to get back on the horse, as they say, since I am not rusty at all in SEO - but am quite rusty in copywriting.

Going back about 5 months ago now, my long-time girlfriend and I broke up. She has since moved out and my apartment's lease is up in March. The reality has set in that in 3 months I need to find a new roommate and a new place, and right now, I haven't got a dollar to my name.

2 weeks ago I got a call from NelNet, a major loan provider for federal loans. They wanted to call and let me know that the CARES Act would be expiring and they'll be expecting another $300/mo from me starting next month.

Needless to say, I started getting motivated real fast.

So here I am. Getting back on the saddle once more, but am sickeningly serious this time.

I found that my biggest obstacle, the one that continuously resulted in me "losing steam" when I got back into it was the writing.

I suck at writing. You can probably already tell lol.

Once of my biggest regrests (and this is in no way a dig at WA) is that I relied solely on WA"s resources. And thats not to sayu you can't be successful in doing so, you absolutely can.

But I lost sight of one of the most important characteristics all enterprenours should have: resourcefullness.

With that, one big change I've made this time is I've started looking at other great resources on building successful online businesses and supplemented my WA training with that. I've already found an incredible way to produce way more content, and easier, than before.

I am confident with this new method I will be able to regularly post at least 2 articles per week.

With that, here are my new goals:

- By December 31st, 2021 I will generate 2 GuitarTricks and 2 JamPlay referrals per day (This equates to $3,900/mo or $46,000/yr before taxes)

- By December 31st, 2022 I will generate 5 GuitarTricks and 5 JamPlay referrals per day (This equates to $9,750/mo or $117,000/yr before taxes)

- I will post 2- 1,000+ word articles per week (Mondays and Thursdays) starting next week, 12/14

- By December 31st, 2021, I will have my 30 Day Guitar Lesson Challenge Opt-In Offer Completed and implemented

- By December 31st, 2022, quit my job and TheBestGuitarLessons.com will be my full-time income.

So that's it,. that's all I've got for you today. Sorry for the lack of images and probably telling you more about my life than you ever cared to know. Regardless, love you all and love WA.

Here's to a fruitful 2021 for all of you!
