The Power of God

He had an interesting talk with a friend of his, over coffee, the other day. They were talking about the power of God. More specifically. What would it be like to have such power.

“I had a dream last night that I asked God for his power and he granted it to me,” his friend said.

As You can imagine he was a bit taken back. Here’s the thing. His friend has been known to indulge in Marijuana. It occurred to the man that his friend might be high, but that didn't seem to be the case. In fact , his friend seemed very lucid and clear eyed. In fact, his friend exhibited none of the confusion that is often associated with people high on marijuana. He was instead calm but also serene—the type of serenity that you sometimes read in those self-awareness and inner peace type of books.

“I was a sphere—no body but I still had my mind,” his friend said.

“A sphere?"

“As soon as I asked God for his power, I was transformed into a sphere, surrounded by vivid colors, and feeling enormous energy.” His friend told him.

Intrigued , He asked him to continue.

“At first it was beautiful and my mind felt more alive, more alert, than ever before. If this was a high, it sure felt different. I felt unlimited happiness.To be so in tune with billions of souls was better than any kick I have ever had---even from the best high.

—and then everything changed. I was overwhelmed—-that is to say my mind was overwhelmed. I was terrified. I had never been so scared in my life. To be asked for THE ANSWER by billions of souls was more than my mind could handle. In the impressive shape of an awesome sphere resided the mind not of a God but of a man. I had no answer for those billions of souls and that made me very afraid. However, my form was soon gone and with it my fear"

He took a look at his friend and determined that this wasn’t the after effect of a Marijuan high. No, this man had experienced something profound.

“men isn’t suppose to have the power of God,” his friend told him. “All those tyrants who strive to have God-like power are foolish. It can’t be done."

His Friend went on:

"Men can be God-like by demonstrating forgiveness. I asked God to have his power, and he showed me that I was asking for something that was not possible. Forgiveness is the closest way that man could be God like. The only power of God that man can ever emulate is the power to forgive."

His friend gave him a lot to think about. Did God really manifest himself to him and have his friend experience Holly power even if it was just for a moment or was that just the wild imagination of his mind? A man perhaps so determined to give forgiveness for those that wronged him, and many had, he believed in his mind that he had the power of the ultimate forgiver—God.

He didn't know the answer. Perhaps someday he would. However, He was grateful that his friend who was once so angry was now at peace and ready to offer forgiveness to those who had wronged him. The power of God? Who knows.
