Starting at the beginning. My name is Patrick and I was born and raised in Houston Texas. I love the fact that my name was given to me by my birth mother and my adoptive parents loved it so much, they kept it when they adopted me. Only wandered away from my hometown to attend college. Having been a competitive swimmer since i was 12 years old, i attended University of Texas @ Austin on a full swimming scholarship. I still participate in Master's swimming which allows me to train and compete until i leave this earth.
I am an AVID live music lover and I am currently on the Board of Directors of the Houston Blues Society. This exposes me to as much live music as I can handle. It has also allowed me to develop many dear, supportive friends in the music community. I hang out with them and participate in Music festivals all over Houston and beyond. And truly, if I had not had this community to support me during my run with cancer (my wife was my savior), I would have had a much more difficult time with it.
My major in school was Pre-med but organic chemistry diverted my path, so to speak.
I have been in the home building industry for just over 40 years. The familiarity of it is getting uninspiring to say the least. I would like to play and learn in an entirely new venture & realm. Stretch my mind and skills building a business in a new niche and online. Sounds pretty cool to me!! Patrick

I hope things are going well. I know you are getting rolling within the training and there is ONE thing that always tends to confuse people and that is "what is my niche?".

I know, same thing happened to me when I started.

I just wanted to reach out and let you know that I am here if you ever want to run any niche "ideas" by me or you have any questions about finding your niche.

Get back to me when you get the chance! :)

Hey John,
yes, even though I have lots of experience in new home construction I am having difficulty narrowing it down. I even have difficulty coming up with a domain name and website name. what suggestions do you have?

Homeconstruct.com
buildyourhome.com

Use those as a starting point and just mess around with different words and variations and you will find one you like.

Hello Patrick,♫Welcome! Nice to meet you ツ I wish you a lot of learning pleasure and fun on WA. Thank you for following me.

From the start, I have written training for every issue I had problems with myself. I also made a list of 1001 niche ideas, a checklist with 25 points to go through before you publish a post, 101 blogging ideas when you get stuck and an A-Z WA dictionary. I just love lists:) It has been very helpful to a lot of people. I have listed them in one blog you can find on my profile. It's the first website link on the right (click on my picture to get there). I hope to help you with those.

If you have any questions, please add a comment to this message or leave them on my profile.
Success building your business in 2016. See you around, Greetings Loes

thanks for the warm welcome Loes. I am sure I will tap into your lessons and lists! I am in a place where I don't know what I don't know and it is a bit intimidating but I will press on. Reading your lessons may be a good place to start filling in the blanks for myself. I am a blank slate right now but anxious to build a viable business for my retirement and beyond. See you around and best of success to you too.

Hi Patrick,

Welcome to Wealthy Affiliate and congratulations on going premium.

I would suggest (if you haven't already) to take a good look around, then start the Certification training 1. Also engage with this fantastically encouraging and helpful community. If you ever get stuck or have a question, ask it and it will be answered quite quickly by the community.

Sometimes it may feel tough here because you will be learning new things but Kyle's training is superb, so you'll soon start understanding how things fall into place. .

I wish you well on your WA journey, I look forward to seeing your progress and have followed you.

Best regards

I would sincerely appreciate if you could take a moment to review my first blog article: It reviews some of my lessons learned in my first few weeks at WA. Perhaps there is a tip there that could help you on your journey, otherwise, please leave your tips on getting started in the comments of the article - I would love to hear from you!

Good luck with your journey at WA!

Welcome, Patrick to our world of magic and wonder. You will find unlimited opportunities in our community. Take your time, go thru the courses, lessons, and Bootcamp, in order and you will find even MORE opportunities.

I spent five years trying to find a place like this and wasted a considerable amount of money. This is the real deal!

Again, a warm welcome to our "mountain climbing" team!

All the best,

Steve

What's up Patrick and welcome to Wealthy Affiliate!

It's great to see you made it here and I just thought I'd welcome you and help you get started on the right track.

You will learn a lot within the next few days and you will meet a bunch of new people, who will help you along the way so don't be afraid to ask any questions.

As a new member here, you want to put up a pic (preferably of yourself) and say a little something about you so that it can be easier for others to help you.

To start the training, just head over to the Online Entrepreneur Certification getting started course (Level 1). This is a task based course that will get you taking action on daily tasks that will lead to you building web assets right away.

Here is the link that you will see within your main menu labeled "Get Started Here". Just take a look around, get to know how the site works, and see what WA has to offer. Let me know if you have any questions and I will get back to you as soon as I can.

Talk to you soon,

- John
