Moving On.....plug-ins I am using
I have been working on my websites and have especially done quite a bit with my birding website. I have gotten some advertisers to affiliate with and set up a page called "The Store". I wanted my page to be set up with boxes, or on a grid type layout to install the banner links. I finally found what I needed in the plug-in called Page Builder by Site Origin. It took a little while for me to figure it out, but it works great for me now. Go to http://thereschirpingintheyard.com and visit 'the store' page to see what I mean and see how it works.
I also installed a plug-in called WP seo by yoast. It works on top of WP to help optimize your page and posts. I was really surprised when I had it check my posts as it showed me a lot of things that needed to be added or changed to make it better for google ranking. I thought I was following my lessons on using keywords and placing them in my content etc., but this plug-in really showed me more. The photo shows a check on a page.
Anyway, hoping I get better rankings now, and I'm so glad to be accomplishing more on my way to success.

Good job Terry!
I'm happy to see you making progress. Yoast is a great plugin and will make it easier to rank. But you still need to add continuous content and follow the training you have received here.
Plugins just enhance things but they don't do all the work for you.
Hope that makes sense.
Keep at it!

I love yoast! I'm not sure why we use all in one SEO. Your page looks great. I love the header pic. You might want to check on the offer that expires

Thats great and all I would use it till I get a hang of it and then discard it because all those plugins hurt your site rankings. Google values page speed a lot so you can actually make up with a really fast site if you are lacking a little in content. Analyze your site at Gtmetrix.com you would be suprised with how many things you need to change. At first with all my cool plugins my page speed result was 80 and my yslow result was 74 but after I was done my page speed is 98 and my Yslow is 96. And this is a video platform. After that I added a schema.org video site map and now my video posts rank number 2 on the first page with my keywords which are high competition and high traffic by the way. I dont have much in contents but google robots love the site because they can understand it. And its barely 2 months old. One other thing I did was to get a backlink from a high page authority in my niche and one .Edu review of 500 words with my keyword. Google loves this.
Essential plugings to boost page speed, you dont need the rest.
All in one seo
Google Xml sitemap
Akismet
Wp touch to make ure site mobile friendly
W3 total cache
Smush it to optimize images and reduce size (careful still needs work)
Schema.org markup for google robots
And woocommerce if you are selling things
This is all you need anymore than this will only hurt you because your competion who is doing the same thing you are doing can out rank you based on speed alone. However most new sites have to go through the 3 to 4 month cycle. Though there are exceptions. Keep up the good work.
wow, that's a lot of info for a newbie, but thanks and I'll check out what you suggest.Very helpful, thanks again.
I ran my tests, GTmetrix gave me 86/78. I have added W3 and smush it. So far smush it hasn't gone thru but I will try smushing them again today. Then I guess I need to add the site map. Thank you again, I'll keep at it.
