Staying Focused
One of my short comings is finding ways to stay focused. I'm one of those people who could do many things at one time and get them accomplished. Unfortunately, I carried this work ethic, what is called multitasking, into my online career.
I thought I was being very productive by multitasking, however; studies have shown that in most cases we are less productive. I worked with a person of German descent and he said that people who try to do a number of different things, at one time, are counter productive. They are not focused and although they may do a number of different things, they do not do them well. I respect this person and I noticed his work ethic and how he finished his work and the pride he took in his work.
I googled multitasking and staying focused and was surprised to find that he was correct. Thankfully, I was able to recognize that I was wrong and trying to multitask was taking my focus away from finishing projects well.
Studies have shown that multitasking is a weakness and not a strength.
In a 2009 study, Stanford researcher, Clifford Nass challenged 262 college students to complete experiments that involved switching among tasks, filtering irrelevant information and using working working memory. Nass and his colleagues expected that frequent multitaskers would outperform non-multitaskers on at least some of those activities.
They found the opposite. Chronic multitaskers were abysmal at all three tasks. The scariest part: Only one of the experiments actually involved multitasking, signaling to Nass that even when they focus on a single activity, frequent multitaskers use their brains less effectively.
Multitasking is a weakness not a strength. In 2010, study by neuroscientists, at the French medical research agency, Inserm, showed that when people focus on two tasks simultaneously, each side of the brain tackles a different task.

I had been all over the internet and not focusing on one or two legit opportunities. Wealthy Affiliates is teaching me how to stay focused.
I have that too! I call it "the shiny ball syndrome". I need to work on focusing on one thing at a time and when another thing pops up in my mind, write it down and get to it later.

I too have the multi tasking syndrome and practiced it all my adult life. I would always find myself stopping if another issue arose and I would go and fix that...etc, etc, etc. With WA, I find myself following the WA protocol and enjoy the conversations that pop up hourly.
