Having the hunger !

I think we all know the idea that you need a reason to do things, and the harder they are, the better the reason needs to be.

There's a saying along the lines of there's no point knowing where your going if you don't know why you want to go there.

So it pretty much boils down to wanting to succeed, but if to succeed is hard, how much do you have to want it?

Many success stories seem to start off with someone at rock bottom, the poor lad (or lass) who has nothing and works their way up to a grand life of wealth and happiness - but what if you don't have nothing?

Is it easier to succeed starting at the bottom with a hunger so big it has to be fed - maybe, and there in sits my problem, or possibly my excuse.

You see, like many no doubt, I like the idea of making a nice income online. More than that, I'd like to be rich, certainly not have to work at a day job that's for sure. but how hungry am I really.

Overall, I have a pretty comfortable life. I'm not rich, but I'm certainly not poor either. I have a job that is so easy you would not believe and that gives me a modest wage, plus nice pension for the future. I have a car, it's not a Ferrari, a Ford Focus actually, but it gets me and mine from A to B, and it's better than walking. I don't live in a mansion, but have somewhere to eat my dinner, somewhere to sit to watch TV and a bed to lay my head in. I also have a 'den' - a must have for any man !

I have a girl friend I love very much and I'm fairly confident the feeling is mutual ! :-)

So what's my point, other than counting my blessings (which is never a bad thing) ?

My point is that sometimes I feel that my life is such that I don't have the real hunger necessary to succeed big time. Now I know I should feel ashamed saying that - anyone really down of their luck might look at me and say 'gosh, poor guy - with his comfortable life, I feel for him' ! But I'm not moaning about my life, I'm just being straight with myself to understand where I am.

More to the point, understanding what motivates me.

It's not money, as said I'd like more, but that's not what's going to drive me to push and push until I succeed.

Oh, and I think I should add now that this post does not end with me suddenly proclaiming the answer to what I need to do to find focus - because I'm still on the journey to that answer.

I do know that I like helping others. I can smile at the thought that I'll often go without a cup of tea because I'm too lazy to go and buy milk, yet I've risked my life for complete strangers in the past.

I also like recognition. I remember having a sales job once and being top of the sales board every month meant more to me than the money it made me. It was a great buzz just being the best. I must add, I am quite a modest type of guy, and I don't mean to sound like I want to be the 'big I am' - it's just that being good, and being congratulated for it, is nice.

So maybe in those closing thoughts I have some pointers to the answer that I seek as to what makes me 'hungry'.

I do know that if I'm ever going to make a real success of any venture, I need to find that hunger, nurture it, grow it, and then unleash it fully into the face of my goals.

Failing that I'll just learn to drink black tea.

Steve, good blog, better yet, make WA your challenge. Membership will soon reach 200,000 and that would lots of people to see you achieving your goals. Cheers

Thanks - and oh yes, certainly going to give WA my best shot. Having looked around the net at other ventures for some time, WA is without doubt the best I've come across. Have high hopes for the future, but know my success is down to me putting it all into practice. :-)
