A Progress Report

I joined Wealthy Afiiliate back in April and at first I was quite motivated. I did the training and I was feeling excited about embarking on a new journey, which started out as a blog on chinchilla care. I ended up having to work a lot more over the summer than I planned to as my dad, who is also my boss, severed his Achilles tendon. Everyone at our family restaurant had to work more to cover his shifts, and I didn't make as much progress on my blog as I would have liked to.

Now that my dad is recovering I have a more manageable schedule, and a few months ago I realized that working on the chinchilla blog wasn't fun the way that I thought it would be. It was more like a chore, and that surprised me because I was expecting to enjoy it. I made the decision to put it on the back burner and to go with my other idea, a blog where I review candy and snacks. I also share pictures of some of the things that I'm snacking on where a review isn't appropriate.

I immediately noticed that I was finding it much easier to work on this blog than the previous one, and I knew I had made the right choice. I am still figuring out the format of posts and I am starting to narrow down my niche to Asian snacks.

I got approved for Google Adsense as well as an affiliate program with a website that sells Japanese candy. I was very excited about this and I plan to apply to other programs as my blog improves.

In all the months I've been here on WA I haven't posted a blog and I thought I should start!

In the next year, I hope to be more active on the forums, to stay motivated, and to hopefully make a bit of money through my blog.
